The description says that it is a replica. Anyone know who made it?

Could be from 'Down under' although he used more of a satin finish.
One thing's for sure, that's a TV version. Different shaped grips, trigger, and fin beneath the barrel vents.

It looks like a mixture of both the TV and movie guns. The toggle switch is in front of the trigger like the movie version. The TV version had the switch behind and above the grips.

Looks like a TV version of the gun from "down under", here's the movie version from that builder.

Looks like the same workmanship, even the same style power hookup. I would say both are John's work.

Wow.

1500.00 and untested. ;)

My thoughts exactly.

That gun has either never been fired as it's way to clean to have been used or John is still making these somewhere which is a whole other can of worms.

Jim

Yeah. I wonder who the poor soul that Gun was scammed out of. :unsure

Hi all.

This gun reminds me the DS Props gun from Australia....Yes, the guy who ripped off a lot of people.

The webmaster of a French Logan's Run site, asked DS Props if he could make him a TV version of his working replica. DS Props answered 'yes', sent pics of the replica made but never sent the gun.....of course, he took the money....

It looks like this one : the movie and TV versions in a single replica, effectively with the toggle-switch on forward position (movie position).

I suppose it could be this one ....

FRED

It would be a good lookin' TV replica if the glowplug button was in the back where it should be.
As mentioned, the grips, trigger and fin just scream, TV rebuild.

Why someone would make a hybrid, funky, love-child of the movie and TV version like that.

Kinda odd. :confused

Heck, if I were making one from scratch, after collecting whastever good ref shots I could, I could see making this mistake.
After being so conditioned that there are mutliple versions of props (R2-D2, TOS Phaser, Han Solo Blaster, et al.)
I don't know if I would have distinguished between them.
I want to make a movie version out of metal and have yet to see plans I like.
Back to the DVD and slides for me.

Did anyone ever make a firing one that was even a little safe?

I think "dependable" is a more appropriate word.

A match is dangerous depending on who is handling it.

LOL, Very true.

Well, I saw the ones that Bill had at Phantasmicon in 1977 or 78? But I could never afford one. I have wanted one that fired ever since.
The idea of having one that will explode in my face, however, has less appeal than it did in my youth.

So anyway, on topic here, was this a one-off? Is the buyer here?
I wonder how the interest in these will go if/when a remake is ever done...

As for being a one-off, who knows?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, John had done a run of those, and then, on the second run, is when he failed to deliver the Guns that he had taken the money for.

He also scammed a few people out of Money for a working Blade Runner Blaster.

Im sure if a re-make is ever made, and they use the same design, there will be a resurgence of people wondering where they can get one.

When Fred designed these, he came up with a very unique and Iconic Prop which still facinates people to this day.

Hmmm... The piece must have been pulled for some reason. The link that I posted is dead, I don't find it in the active listings or the archive and "Logan's Run" is no longer listed in the drop down of movies. Weird... :confused

Maybe they did'nt want the liability or problems that come with this Prop.

Interesting...

Perhaps John from DS Props sold it to them directly, since it does look very new and they have had more than a few folks contact them in regard to the pistol or to say the pistols they donÂ’t have.

Or like you stated maybe just a simple liability issue they wished to avoid.

Jim

Hi all.

A long time ago, I asked Propstore that if they had one day a working flamer, I would be interested to buy one. They answered that even if they could have a working one, it would be forbidden for them to send it to France....Liability problems....Yeah, that's possible.

Fred

Hmmm. When I looked at the link, it was there and said "sold."

Maybe it was sold and they just took down the links and menu option since it was the only one they had.

I can't imagine the liability issues with selling one of these that worked, unles the guts were essentially a long lighter like we use on our Barbeque.

Could be but everything else I've seen marked as sold stays in their inventory or is moved to the archive. They have stuff in the archive from years back...
