List perfect albums, start to finish...

agree with a lot here and will add:

Tool - Lateralus
Gorillaz - Demon Days

both get looped in my car for weeks

KLAATU - Hope

I am a huge Beatles fan. I've got so much stuff it's embarrassing, but I've never heard of this band. Gave it a listen just to see what was up, and read some youtube comments talking about the possibility of it being them. Even though it isn't, wow. Great music!

Depeche Mode - Violator
Adam & the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier
Prince - Lovesexy
Kiss - Alive!
Kiss - Love Gun
Kiss - Destroyer
Daft Punk - Discovery
Tubeway Army - Replicas
Gary Numan - Telekon

Yeah, that Adam and the Ants album is pretty damn good.

You should also check out their first album (3:47 EST or simply Klaatu), although not as tightly put together as Hope, still some very interesting stuff.

Especially these tracks...

Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft
Anus of Uranus
Sir Bodsworth Rugglesby III
Little Neutrino

To really appreciate Klaatu, you have to listen to them with a pair of good around the ear headphones... like back in the '70s when I used to listen to this stuff every night... Pink Floyd, Klaatu, Alan Parsons Project, Pat Metheny Group, Jean-Luc Ponty, etc... which reminds me...

I Robot - Alan Parsons Project

.

OK, here's my finished list:

No Beatles album - even though they're the greatest band of all time - because there's always one duff Macca or Starr novelty or cover that needs skipping.

Love - Forever Changes
Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
Can - Soundtracks
David Bowie - Hunky Dory
David Bowie - Aladdin sane
Frank Zappa - Apostrophe
The Doors - The Doors
The Doors - Strange Days
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground
The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed
Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
Led Zeppelin - IV
Stevie Wonder - Talking Book
Stevie Wonder - Inner Visions
Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Pink Floyd - Animals
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Syd Barrett - Barrett
Ian Dury and the Blockheads - New Boots and Panties!!
Blondie - Eat to the Beat
Jilted John - True Love Stories

It kills me having to leave Pink Floyd's Meddle off this. 'Echoes' is one of the greatest tracks of all time, but there's way too much filler on side 1 of that album.

Dave Brubeck – Time Out. [with Take Five]

Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. For that LSD and Hippies experience.

Chilliwack - Riding High [kind of rare]

Golden Earring - Moontan. [300 cover versions of radar love. [just found out they're Dutch]

Kiss - Alive!

Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run

The B-52's - The B-52's

Elvis Costello - Elvis is King [music is reborn. hurray!]

Nirvana - Nevermind

Slinky - Tech-nique

AC/DC - Back IN Black
Scorpions - Blackout & Love At First Sting
Gary Moore - Corridors of Power
Yngwie Malmsteen - Trilogy
Def Leppard - Hysteria
Guns N Roses - AFD
Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Oz
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Metallica - Black Album
Van Halen - 1984
Mr. Big - So What If...
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Michael Jackson - Thriller & Bad
Dokken - Back For the Attack

GnR: Appetite for Destruction & Lies
Beatles: Abbey Road & The White Album
Alice in Chains: Jar of Flies
Wu Tang Clan: Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Motley Crue: Shout at the Devil
Led Zeppelin: Presence
Tool: Undertow
Metallica: Garage Days
Marilyn Manson: Antichrist Superstar
Jane's Addiction : Nothing's Shocking & Ritual de lo Habitual
A Perfect Circle: Thirteenth Step
Salty Dog: Every Dog Has Its Day
Boards of Canada: Geogaddi
Pink Floyd: Animals
Radiohead: OK Computer
Zakk Wylde: Book of Shadows
Slipknot: Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)

Dammit, one day when I grow up I aspire to have the musical taste of Jason Eaton or Steve H. :)

Everything
by Pulp and/or Jarvis Cocker.

Squirrel Nut Zippers - Hot
Tom Waits - Nighthawks at the Diner

Kraftwerk - the mix

The secret of NIMH and black cauldron soundtrack

Agree with a bunch listed here. Here are a few more not yet listed:

Jimi Hendrix - "Are you Experienced?"
Jimi Hendrix - "Band of Gypsys"
Rolling Stones - "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!"
Rolling Stones - "Sticky Fingers"
Eric Clapton - "Slow Hand"
Eric Clapton - "Just One Night"
Tom Waits - "Small Change"
Tom Waits - "Mule Variations"
Bob Dylan - "Real Live"
Bob Dylan - "Biograph"

These are a few of my favorites but I could come up with a hundred more if I thought about it.

Ahhh Jarvis. The 29" waisted scarecrow with the most gawky awkward dance moves, ever. The only musician goofy/awesome enough to make it into Harry Potter.

This gives me chills, to this day. Jarvis struggled so hard to make it, Squire broke his collarbone and Pulp got the Glastonbury spot, and they just KILLED it. Listen to the audience... it's insane. A perfect, intelligent pop song, by a band at the absolute height of their game. This song made every mix tape I made, for ages.

YouTube - Pulp - Common People (Glastonbury 1995)

Here's another song that made every single mix tape I made for like 5 years straight:

YouTube - Unrest - Make Out Club

They were local, so I could drive to DC all the time and see 'em live! Nicked a lot from The Wedding Present, but I still love them. Speaking of Weddoes Martyn, here's another "made every mix tape" gem:

YouTube - The Wedding Present - Brassneck

I was always an album guy. Ninety percent of the music I listen to, I listen to the album start to finish. That's only changed slightly with my MP3 player. I think that means there are far too many to list here. Besides, I don't know how much you'd appreciate the metal, punk and hard core I grew up listening to.

I wish I could say that. Unfortunately, the iPod playlist has changed my listening habits... I'm not real happy with that, but it's the most convenient way for me to listen, I'm trying to break that habit.

And the metal, punk, hardcore is much appreciated to my ears!

Fire away on the metal and punk, I'm always on the look out for more bands!

Nile's new album sounds like it's gonna be awesome. Fantastic production.

FWIW, I just discovered Volbeat... think Elvis meets Metallica meets Social D meets... I don't know, but it's good stuff.

I'm loving their stuff right now. Fallen has hit rock radio, but all of their stuff seems to be especially tasty. I can't recommend an album (as it's all still sinking in), but Fallen, I Only Wanna Be With You, Heaven Nor Hell.... gosh, so much good stuff.
