Link's extremely battle worn Hylian shield (work in progress)

I was going to ask why you fixed the damage your kids did to the shield when it's going to be roughed up anyway, lol. Maybe you should give it to them and let them have at it to simulate real damage??.

Because there is no relation to the damage children can cause vs. video game bosses. LOL

About the arrows project. If I do it. I think al I need to add is blue or red glass arrow heads. but there so many options.

I have two steps left on this build. But I think at this point all the pics are so close in imagery that I will wait to post them until tomorrow evening when everything is done. Thats the problem with paint, it takes so long to dry and/or cure

woot. I am finally done
Here it is all taped off. I used Hammered metal rustolium for the bunt of the metal coloring.

For the melted part, I sprayed on some "mirrored glass" the stuff designed to be sprayed inside glass vases to make them look like "mercury glass"
It gave it that cool texture that molten metal gets when it cools
IMG_0828.JPG

For the damaged areas I just sprayed some of the hammered paint into a lid and used a brush to drop it in the divots and let it pool or drip down the scratches.
IMG_0830.JPG

I drilled three holes for each arrow since they are made with three dowels.
IMG_0831.JPG

I used my brush again to drop paint into the holes. This ate away at the foam so that the glue I used for the arrows would have space to fill in and anchor
IMG_0832.JPG

There was bleeding from the places where the tape crossed. I just took a sharpie and tapped out a bunch of dots where ever silver poked out.
IMG_0834.JPG

Gave the whole thing a clear coat and letting that dry last night. This morning I taped it off again for painting the triforce. I know they are supposed to be yellow or gold.... But I went for GLOW IN THE DARK! Had to put down a whit base coat first. Might have been able to do yellow but no shop in town had anything but high gloss.
IMG_0839.JPG

You cant see it in this picture but The glow paint didnt like being on top of the clear coat. since its in the middle of the curve of the shield, it didnt run but it pulled away from the middle slightly. I was worried the glow would be canceled out if I put the clear coat over it.

Oh and we are adding one more detail but I want to let it completely cure first. Plus I need a bit of a rest.
We are adding a bloody chicken foot print to the lower left hand corner. :D

second that, its looking really cool!

any more??

More from this build? The shield was delivered before I got the chance to put on the chicken foot print. But I still have the option to add that later.
Was there something specific you guys wanted to see?

I have a couple other post like the portal gun gauntlet thats still in progress
