Lightsaber Contests of Old (Lots of Pics)

Dan's question made me think...scary thought but

Are we counting sales tax or is $20 before tax since that varies a lot state to state or even county to county?

Thats what I assumed (but you know what they say about assumptions) I just didn't want to enter and then find out I could of spent another £8. Cos lets face it the £8 could buy a whole lot of stuff to stick on to a saber:lol

Dan

In the use, it's $1. store items, with a limit of $20. in other words 20 items. (we will ignore tax) The same goes for what ever the curacy is in your part of the world. (i.e. if you have the £ then it would be £1 stores with a limit of £20. )

Yes, do to exchange rates the £ is worth more then the $, but it will be easier to keep track of this way, and it wouldn't be fare for US folks to be able to have 20 items, but folks from other contrives to have less, because of their countries economy, etc.

Don't jump the gun Dan, gotta wait till Sunday to start picking up pieces.

I'm righting up the rules right now. Here's what I'm thinking of for the prizes. The 1st place winner would git his (or her ) choice of 2 of the prizes, and then the 2nd place winnner would get there pick of 1 prize from those that remain. The same would go for 3rd, and so on, until we run out of prizes. That way folks can get what they want, and the person that gets first place, gets something extra. I just wanted to run this by you all, to make sure that, this is ok. So, sound good?

What's the rules on paint here?

Does it have to be Dollar General brand spraypaint and a part of the overall cost? Or can we use what we have?

And second I think a new thread with the complete list of rules and restrictions up front is necessary.

I like that idea for the prizes Jason nice way to try and make sure everyone gets something in the end!

I think paint fell into the category of supplies you have on hand from following earlier posts. Because Dollar General charges more than a buck they don't qualify for parts, and Dollar Trees etc typically don't sell paint.

I have ever intention of posting another thread with all of the rules. In fact I've had most of it writen and ready to go for a wile now. I'm just not going to post it until midnight October 31st. You know, as it becomes November 1rst, and the first day of the contest. All the questions that are being asked in both of the existing threads, have already been answered, in that post, but it wont be up until then. I feel posting the thread in advance, will encourage folks to start before they should. However, I don't mind answering the some of the questions in on of the two threads that already exist (this one, and the other one.) until that time.

You can use what ever paint, epoxy, glue, fasteners, sandpaper, etc. you already have to assemble your saber. You may not use any of those items, or any other non $1 store item, as a part of the structure of the saber. (In other words, you can use epoxy as a casting agent and make a hole part for the saber out of $5. epoxy. if you wanted to do that, you would have to use $1. store epoxy. All of this is covered more clearly, and in greater detail in the rules that will be posted on Saturday night.

Hang in there folks, just a little more then 24 hours, and this thing will be on. :)
