Hey all,
So this is eventually going to be a life-sized standing werewolf, with dog legs and head leaned low and forward. I've done the sculpts for the head, feet and ears, Richard Riley is starting on the bodywork shortly, and Rich Krussell (a talented local mask maker) has come on to tackle the hands.
Below are pics of the sculpts for the head and feet and a shot of a test casting with ears and teeth affixed. A good deal of the head and foot will be covered with fur, but the details are there in case they peek through a bit. Naturally, all the fine detail and texture have washed out on the pics but hey, it's a sneak peek anyway
The fur for the first one is going to be 100% custom run National Fiber Tech hair. A nice mix of browns on the body and the mane will be a longer and more gray mix of the same colors. For future copies, we'll be able to do fur based on the buyer's wishes. The eyes on the final piece will be yellow eyes with a more "animal" look to them. Those are being custom made as we speak.
Molds for the head and ears are now done and I did a quick snap of a test head casting with ears in place. IMO, ear placement is really crucial for capturing the look and feel. The hair on the head will be mostly 5-7" long, dense hair... so the ears will seem a bit more subtle once he's furred up, but I'm really happy with the ear "pose" and placement and think they really enhance the face's character.
While the first statue was a commission by a client of mine, he's allowing us to offer this to others as a head only and full body character as well. Anyone interested please contact us through our site: http://www.tomspinadesigns.com/contact-us.html
Enjoy the pics and I'll be sure to post up more progress shots as things come together!
