This project and your work is awesome. I can't wait to see it finished. Any chance of ED traveling around a bit? If they ever decide on a location and get the Robocop statue on display in Detroit, I'd love to see them together. A bit out of scale, but it'd be WAY cool.

Would be so great to have had this build filmed and made into a short film/doco. If I was on your side of the planet I would have offered to do it for you for free! Great job!

A friend of mind did manage to put in a few hours smoothing out the main body while I've been gone. Here's a snapshot he sent me yesterday:


The photos he sent today worry me a bit more:




Hopefully there won't be an earthquake anytime soon.

Unlikely, given that it is programmed to use lethal force in order to pacify targets if orders are ignored ... It wouldn't be an effective peacekeeping machine if criminals knew it wasn't allowed to hurt them should they refuse to comply.

Edit: It would also be fairly pointless to add weapon pods to its arms if it couldn't use them. Though as I'm writing this it occurs to me that it is entirely likely that you not only could have been making a joke, but also might not be referring to the 3 laws of robotics ...

I could be talking out my ass here, but don't the 3 laws really only apply to something with artificial intelligence? Because the 209 is really just an auto turret with legs that gives you a head start.

Enough silliness. Time for me to get back to work. I'm joined now by my lovely assistant Shawnon:


She's been away at school working on her doctorate, but now that she's home on a brief break she's helping me build the giant murderbot. That's how you know you've got a keeper.

Yesterday she had a friend over to help lay up mold release on part 3 of the pelvis mold:


Then I helped her lay up the gelcoat and fiberglass:


Then we set it in the sun to speed the curing process:


While that was curing, I set to work sanding out a few more of the flaws in the main body. It's very close to done, but every time I look I find more little flaws. Here's how it looked at the end of the day:


While I wasn't looking, the Lady Shawnon organized my spraypaints:


Today we'll be laying up part 4 of the pelvis mold and hopefully get the first copy pulled:
