Licenced Iron Man Arc Reactor for 150.00!!!

'Cause they have some 22 year old intern making these. :lol

Brad

haha. Well, I think that there are probably some youngins here who could do a better job. It seems like they're just aiming for "good enough to be recognizable," hence the inaccuracies and low price.

Can't we all just sign a letter and send it to them stating that we (the same customers who would want this item) are unhappy with the quality of authenticity? Does'nt that make any kind of difference?
In any case, who is the independent seller who offers a replica of this that is actually accurate?

This is one of those things where I can sacrifice accuracy over price. When I add it to my Ironman collection, people will automatically know what it is. If I drop an additional 200.00, it will make no difference. Some things have got to be accurate in my collection. This isn't one of them.
I'll order it and review it when it comes in.

I see several inaccuracies, starting with the base and screws securing the base pole to the bottom plate.

What's up with the long red/black wire?
The "Proof" font is too small.

JMTWO's and Screen Used
compv.jpg

When I first saw this post my heart sunk. $150!! Pretty much double what I paid for mine.
I own a 1st gen JmTwo's Plug-In Arc Reactor and just bought a 2nd gen battery powered for more display versatility.

But I must agree with Brad. There are more glaring inaccuracies that ruin this piece than the overall CLAIMED ACCURACIES for the price. :thumbsdown

I am now MORE satisfied with my JmTwo Arcs than I was before!! :thumbsup

The font size and the post are glaring errors. But you should be able to slip a better size tube right over theirs if they don't correct it. For the much cheaper price, I can take the wrong font size, but it would be nice HINT COUGH COUGH HINT if someone here could just make a more accurate ring piece for them. Those two simple fixes would get the glaring errors eliminated.

Amen to that brother! Looking forward to your review...

I hope your happy with mine lol

Indeed!

Good for them! :thumbsup

Soooo glad I didn't do a run of these, now. Whew!

Its one heck of a good price actually. BUT the only issue with Museum Replicas is that they have a history of having prototypes and finished products that don't look the same.

Rylo, you would still have a captive audience here on the RPF. You do great work and the people here really value accuracy and the price it comes that accompanies it.

The thing that gets me though is the fact that you are HANDED the keys to the kingdom with a prop replica. I mean, the fabric stuff, I kinda get because you might have to have the fabric completely custom made, etc. BUT with prop replicas, you can control the variance ... an egregious error like font size and spacing, while yes, is in the minutia of replica building, still speaks volumes in regard to the type of people of running the ship where something like this is totally overlooked or was accepted by Marvel.

key wording: WAS.

Yup, this Disney fiasco should now be interesting. Hey, it might tighten the ship, who knows.

As long as the cross branding doesnt hit too soon. Mickey's arc reactor might be a bit much....

I have a couple of items from Museum Replicas....both of which had to be repainted/modified to get them even close to something presentable.

I think the level of quality is not up to the standards expected by most on this forum.

Case in point...at the 3 oclock position of their arc product shot...the soldered piece is dislodged.

If the product "money" shot is poorly constructed/represented...what is getting shipped?

But, don't they make these different details on purpose, so no one will try to pass it up for the actual screen-used prop, or so the actual prop stays unique?

Even with this being the case, the bragging about the accuracy is still unjustified.

Come on it's nothing new, it's not just this prop or even this company, every single licensed product i have ever seen advertised uses clever wording to give a false perception to the customer about the quality or accuracy.

Made using a cast or a scan of the original, what does that actually mean ?
It doesn't mean it is a cast or a scan of the original, i can take a direct cast off a screen used Vader helmet and chop and change it around until it looked like a TIE pilot and still advertise it as made using a cast from an original, it's not lies it's just subtle use of language to make you think you're getting something that you aren't.

Made to exacting standards ? again means nothing, they set the standard, i can go to a machine shop and ask a guy to make some parts and tell him he has a 15mm tolerance to work to and advertise the parts as made to exacting standards, not lying.

Limited editions man what a con that is, can't make or sell stuff in large volumes slap an edition number on it print off a COA instant profit margin.

A lot of us wish they would stop with the BS but they never will, neither will Coke or Pepsi or Wrigleys gum or anyone else.
But you know there's also a lot of people who like the BS they like to think they have something that's uber special limited edition ,they'll never actually enjoy the thing, most won't ever take it out the box, and in three years time it'll be in the JY or eBay with careful noting that it's never been out the box and comes with all the original packaging and paperwork, for the next sucker to put it in a smokefree airtight vacuum for another three years.
Cracks me up no end when i actually see people selling or even wanting to buy just a COA for a MR whatever, it really does.

I really can't stand the word collectible i prefer the word enjoyable.
Collectible takes all the fun out of anything.

Is the font really the wrong size? It looks to me like they got the wrong size but the Screen Used was set to Bold and the MR version isn't.

100% correct. Well put.

Heck, have you EVER seen a Whopper at Burger King look like the ones in the ads?

All advertising mumbo-jumbo, and so many just shell out the dough anyway.

Learn to build your own stuff, it's far more satisfying.

In the grand scheme of things, I think the price of this thing (which most likely will be available for even less through retailers) is fair and appropriate. Could it be better? Of course. Are you gonna find better at that price? Probably not. That is all of course assuming the final product ends up what they suggest it will...

anyone know if these are ready to ship now? I didn't notice it saying pre-order or anything.

These will ship beginning, to mid November 2009.

Just in time for Christmas!

But then, thats what they said about the Iron Man helmets last year and look how late they were!!
