Leather Imprinting Question

I have a leather bookcover with a gold imprinted name on it (not my name). What is the best way to hide the name? Is there some way to go over it and block it out? I don't want any name on it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the leather is black, use a black sharpie marker and go over the gold.
