1939 World Fair Saturn glass table lamp (friggin EXPENSIVE.... >$250 on eBay)

- Gabe

Note of interest. The green or blue glass lamps seems to be the hardest of these to find. :(

I find this a bit funny. This collector lamp is a cross collectible. World's Fair memoribilia collectors, Art deco collectors, lamp collectors and glass collectors. The lamp has always been a popular collectors piece and about the time people started Replicating Depression and Carnival glass pieces in the 70's this lamp was also replicated. :unsure

So chances are you may end up with a replica lamp. :lol

The replicas can now command $200 up.

Supposedly one way you can tell which is which is that the switch for the original lamps was on the globe itself ( top?) The replicas have the switch in the cord.

Of course the lamp cord could have been reworked so the best bet in looking for an original is probably examining the electrical components.

Then again, looking at the time the film was made, Decker's lamp could be a replica. :D

No kidding, Rick. These things START the bidding at $250... :cry

A few months ago there were a bunch of these on eBay, now it's bone dry...

You can tell the folds are correct.  It's most likely just due to the size of paper he started out with.  ;)

Many of the folds are incorrect and some are missing.

The scaling may be off a tad, but it was done by Mick.  That alone should forgive any size inaccuracies.    :D

Not to be rude but, this 'doubting Thomas' has doubted the 'Mick Guy' urban legend from the beginning...

So... umm.... where does that put the 'authenticity' of the Mick Guy Urban Legand?...

Wow, now that's a nice BR collection. :)
Still waiting on my bottle as well. Paul PMd me and said it's on the way. Just counting down the days now. :)

As I recall the JW Bottle mold was destroyed in the China earthquake a few months ago.

But if I am wrong in that and there is one for sale some where..... PM me!!
