Last second Mandalorian build for The Force Awakens Premier (PIC HEAVY)

Hey guys! I put my Krang build on the back burner and decided to slam out a down and dirty foam Mandalorian build so I could watch The Force Awakens in costume. From start to finish, it took me 2 weeks. I've been working about 56 hrs a week at my day job so I sacrificed sleep and every waking moment on the weekends to pull this off.

Drawing inspiration from SWTOR, I made a Power Tech type flame thrower gauntlet first using Expo dry erase markers as the flame throwers.

The red button turns the lights on and off allowing me to hide the battery pack inside the tiered section of the gauntlet.

Next came the shoulder bells.

Then the chest plate

Belt w/ pouches, more foam and craft foam.

Mocked in place on a plaster dummy.

Ab plate, shin guards, shoulders, knees, and cod piece made ready for plastidip.

My favorite part of this costume is something I didnt make. I purchased a kit lid from Mynock's Den. I absolutely love this helmet. It was the first pull he sold and I was lucky enough to get it. I cut out the center and installed the visor using a replacement face mask shield that can be purchased from any decent hardware store. I used "chicago screws" to mount the visor.

Everything made, now time to mask and paint!

I added some string stitched into the belt to try to give it a leather feel.

Obligatory selfie before heading out to the movie theatre!

I wish I could say I planned it, but it was co-incidence that I was watching Episode 7 in theatre number 7 at 7pm

After the movie, I had to stroll around the mall a bit. :D

Nice work JWKruser! I'm constantly astounded by the skills that people have to build amazing props and costumes like this. :thumbsup
What did you use for the undersuit?

Kind regards, The14thDr :D

If this is what you do with two weeks, I would hate to see what you do with a longer build where you took your time. Propmaster right here! Bravo!

The flight suit consists of a solid black under armor long sleeve shirt, a Hanes black T-shirt with the sleeves cut off (all the snaps and magnets are attached to it for the shoulder bells and ab plate) and the pants were some cargo style running pants purchased from Amazon that have tapered legs so they wouldn't be baggy at the bottom. Thank you for the kind words! They are awesome motivation!
Now I've been bitten by the Mandalorian bug. I am going to make an official Mando and submit it for approval to join the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club. As it stands right now, the only thing acceptable is the bucket. I've got another project I've been working on for this coming Emerald City Comic Con. It's taken me a while. It's a full body Krang Android suit from the late 80's cartoon series. There is a thread here on the RPF for that build as well. :)

Thank you! All freehand foam. I drew them out on paper, I could post pictures of my patterns if that helps at all.

Mate, that makes it even more fantastic! Yeah, I think a lot of people would find that useful... if I ever get finished with my current project(s), I'd definitely be up for using this! Hopefully I can get my ass in gear to finish these 2 and get a Mando suit made for Rogue One coming out.

Ab plate - The holes cut out are for placement of the magnets

The next two pictures are of the pattern, and piece that goes under the pectoral portion of the chest piece.

Chest templates

Neck roll portion

Shoulder bells - flip the template, make 1 of each side, Barge cement them together at the registration marks.

Base for the forearms

Knees

Shin guards

Hey guys! I attended a photoshoot last weekend in Seattle at Freeway Park. There were a handful of photographers and cosplayers out for a quick shoot before temps dropped and snow fell. Here are a few shots from the day. Courtesy of Plainswalker Photography, Journeys in Color, and Aaron Mathew Photography
