Last Minute Help - Cannon Linkage

Hi guys does anyone have a hint on a quick fix for my shoulder cannon linkage, I've only got a week to get it sorted so don't have the time to build from scratch. I need something that will ellevate my plasma from my back pack and maybe adjust the poistion. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

A jointed rachet handle could be modified to a cannon mount and can be adjusted at the joint. Use the handle as the mount base and insert it into your shoulder mount. Or you can use a hinged door stop(The kind you see that holds school doors open and flips down), screwing the base down to your shoulder and attaching the cannon to the rubber end. Or furthermore, a desk lamp that has the bendable tube would work as well. You can adjust the heck out of that!! Easy items to find and use.

Yeah, the desk lamp is probably the cheapest, quickest and most adjustable on short notice... Probably wouldn't need a whole lot of modding either.

I used a variety of wooden pieces purchased from Michael's. I used a 3'' wood screw up through the platform and into the wood. Then I used mending brackets and corner brackets to hold everything together at the joints, then I covered the brackets with more wood pieces. Then I painted and weathered it and installed the cannon using the swivel mount for a lamp (similar to a desk lamp). Then I installed the blue LED inside. Minus the LED, the mounting, construction, and painting took a few hours, total. One thing that must be kept in mind when mounting the cannon is its proximity to your body's midline, i.e., if you mount it directly in line with the platform, it's usually too close to your head, meaning you bump it when you put on your helmet. That's why I made mine come out a few inches... to give it more clearance. This might not be an issue if you use a desk lamp. Hope this helps.

Thx for posting those pics man! It is nice to see someone digging the AVP large cal cannon. ;0) I shall add these to my Cannon pics collective.

DITTO!!!

Great to see the JP AVP RTF fitted with a very innovative(and cost-effective) mounting arm design!!! Looks awesome!!!

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you guys like it. I'm going to be posting some huntorials pretty soon, if anyone's interested. I've been up til midnight everyday for the past week or so finishing my costume, so I haven't had much time to post photos or get online and help out. I do have some fairly unique things I've done, which I'd like to share. For example, I haven't seen anyone use a pressure switch for their bio lasers yet. I used a pressure switch from a flashlight kit and hooked it up to my lasers: http://www.appliedlaser.com/switches.htm The switch is mounted inside the bio, and you put it in your mouth. So whenever you want to turn on your lasers, there's no buttons to mess around with... you just bite down and the lasers turn on. Then, when you want to turn them off, you just release.

You sure you want to do that? Better make sure you've got some non-conductive fillings in your teeth!

I'm not too worried about it... the switch is covered with rubber and doesn't require much pressure to activate, plus I cut the finger off a latex glove and put it over the switch. Should be fine...
