After staring at my Doom face (Pep + Resin + Fibreglass + Filler + Rough Sand) for hours and frankly feeling like starting from scratch was the best approach (largely due to it looking like it had a stroke as it was my first ever pep etc. so was far from perfect) I decided to try and use some engineering to safe it.
So, I decided to use 2mm craft foam and some worbla (love worbla) to fix my roughness / lopsided issues.
Since this photo I have applied some wood filler to blend the eye / eyebrow / nose and sort a few defect in the chin but all in all I am happy again and may have saved myself about 50 hour of work.
One thing I discovered by accident was how awesome water is! I applied all the filler and left it from about 2 hours to harden up a bit. I then looked at how much sanding I was going to have to do and was a bit gutted. I touched the filler and noticed it was more like putty than hard material so I decided to treat it like clay and shaped it using a wet finger. Yes it was messy work but I was able to really smooth out some of the curves, rough surfaces etc.
Checked on it this morning and there is more work to do but overall a massive improvement. Also due to there being a pretty messy surface under the new foam, I am thinking I can paint these up where visible to resemble scared / burnt flesh. This will give the eye areas some real detail as it will be my eye, lashes etc, surrounded by scared flesh, then the metallic of the face mask.
No bum chin though!
Oh and Sif is progressing. This is the boot armour which is worbla over 2mm craft foam. There are a few lays to give it some visual depth and at present the whole think is black (primed) with all the detailing redone in yellow fluff it pen. It looks bloody amazing (yellow on black) and once the detailing has dried I just need to apply silver, lacquer and find some way of sticking them to the boots.
Oh one thing, if you look at the red one, the blue bit is not worbla-ed. It will be staying as craft foam and being painted to resemble leather. This will give the final layer to the top of Sif's boots an allow my wife to bend at the knee without worbla getting in the way.

Ham out.
