Ladies can be Iron Man too (everything but the shoulders, pg 35)

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

looks nice and smooth

that reminds me...i have to remember where i stashed my dremel like 5 years ago.......i think it's under my bed......maybe......lol.....

Thanks! I was just checking out your pep files thread and it all looks AMAZING, btw

Looking good! :thumbsup

I enjoy seeing people work on major projects like this, but I hate that I'm in an apartment and have no place to be able to go all out and work on something like this. I'd make a mess of my place in no time. I need a garage! :lol Just modifying the Rubies Vader helmet on a card table and out on my 3rd floor deck was a pain in the butt to keep from covering everything with dust from the Dremel tool work and sanding on the filler.

I live in an apartment as well, actually :lol I end up getting a lot of weird looks hanging out outside of my door working on this sort of stuff but it's better than filling my room with fumes and bondo dust lol. When I need to get a lot done I usually just escape to my moms house

It looks good, and it looks like you got to keep most of the details too, when I finished helping Sharkhead bondo his first helmet, you couldn't tell where the face curved in, and it was starting to look very round.

I've actually been struggleing with that...that and the sharp edges. The bondo likes to flake, it seems

thanks to everyone for the comments :]

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

I agree with Chucky, if an area starts flaking, it may need a little more bondo, or you may have used too little or too much hardener. I would just go over an area that's flaking with a little extra bondo and then say what isn't needed off.

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

This is always my problem, as far a flakes go. Also, try sanding it with a higher grit (like a 320) instead of a lower grit like 150. Sometimes it bites off too much if it's too coarse.

Keep up the good work!

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

if you have areas that are flaking for being too thin and you need it to be thin, then you have to get some Evercoat Everglas (short strand fiberglass reinforced filler).

/\ That's a new one Version. Guess you learn something new everyday for real. =]

Looking good! I need to get on the ball and start resining mine... darn rain:unsure

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

I don't know if you're interested in what's been going on in the comics, but Pepper had her own armor for a little while.

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

Helmet looks great, Laamberry. Can't wait to see the rest of the suit develop.

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

What about using Bondo spot glazing putty? It's for finer work after you use regular Bondo.

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

That is looking great. people that can do this sort of work to this level always have my utmost respect. Is it your first attempt at it? I haven't looked back to find out..I went back to as far as Cardboard Kings pics and decided that was far enough lol. Seriously, that was funniest thing I've seen in ages CK

Spot glazing is crap..it cracks easy..stick with the same stuff. If you add something you want it to be the same hardness as the rest or sanding it will not be fun.

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

LOL
I gotta say, I laughed out loud for realz when PrinceNEO said "helped sharkhead bondo his helmet".
I resin, bondo and sand all his stuff for him. XDDD
BUT ANYWAY.
Not too often I get to read inappropriate thread comments, I'm 18 and I'm not as bad as some of you! lol
Rock on inappropriate people! :D
The helmet looks awesome so far Laamberry, and I'm ashamed as a 3d modeler to say it looks like you're doing better on your helmet than I have with mine. lol!

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

I think the flakeing problem may be a mix between useing too much hardener and to low a grit of sandpaper; thanks everyone

ahh the Rescue suit :thumbsup I have to admit it's pretty darn cool and may be something I look into in the future but for now I think I'm busy enough just getting this run-of-the-mill suit going. Thanks for the pic though, I'll hold on to it

Nice progress. What happened to the chin?

It warped so I've been partially avoiding it. Just need to get to it and all that

thank you for the compliments, and yes it is my first attempt actually :]

LOL is that so?
And hey, without your modeling this helmet wouldn't exist for me so thank you!

I'm going to reinforce this.

Glazing putty is only for filling imperfections after the first coat of primer reveals them.
Don't do any structural work with the spot putty.

Nice work on the helmet.
I also agree that the "surprise!" factor of a pretty girl being under the standard Iron Man armor
is cooler than building a feminine version of the suit.

Continued success,
Mike

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (kinda pic heavy)

Interesting design, I think the body would work for her suit but the Helmet looks a bit too Alien, a slimmer version of the standard Iron Man Helmet would work, Do you plan to build a whole Suit?

You make me practice on your stuff before I do anything with mine half the time -.-, So unless you undo everything I did, Yup, I helped you :)

Anyway, it would be interesting to see Lamm tackle the female Ironman, though it really does look like something from Aliens, with super pointy fingers and the odd hair thing in the back of the head.
