Kylo Ren Command Shuttle Photo Review - Revell

Since I harped on Revell this morning about their X-wing kit, let me give credit where credit is due. While the Force Awakens X-wings have soft and missing detail, their Kylo Ren shuttle is the exact opposite. This thing is VERY accurate to the movie ship, and the details are small and very sharp. Easily on par with Bandai's offerings.

I'm not sure how the ball got dropped on the X-wings, but they nailed the shuttle. It's fantastic. The only minor complaint is that the wings aren't moveable. Otherwise, it is a superb kit.

If Revell held this standard on all of their Star Wars offerings, they could easily compete with Bandai.

Top of Shuttle. I know the photography makes the plastic look grainy, but it's really not. It's heavily exaggerated by the photography. In person it looks just fine.

Nice metallic silver coat on the engines. Doesn't look toy-like. Looks like real metal in person.

Inner wing. Wings are 14 inches (35.5 cm) long. This model is huge!

If you figure a mod out to make the wings move, I'd love for you to share if you can. :)

Will do, its still on the "that would be a nice idea" stage currently not actually looked as to its feasibility yet plus I'm not sure how much they need to move just seen one screen grab from the second trailer

I really hope Hasbro makes a toy of this ship. The kit looks pretty good, but I want to be able to play with this thing.

So I decided to put it all together and to prime it to see the detail

Not sure I may keep it grey as if it was standard issue shuttle maybe ..difficult to see it all in black maybe better in Matt black

Not sure though

This could become an epic bird of prey with a bit of tuning ....

I was thinking of perhaps kitbashing one into a FASA Romulan ship inspired kitbash as I can see some similarities to the shapes.

That does look good in gray. It is a bit odd that the Micro Machine Titanium shuttle toy is painted gray like the old Shuttle Tydirium and not black like every other shuttle out there. So I have to wonder if there is indeed a standard version of the shuttle.

FYI

If anyone is looking for figures to use in a diorama, the new micromachine figures are pretty spot on. The shuttle is supposedly 1/93, the figures are about 1/90 scale and have a decent Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and some troopers as well as Rey, Finn Poe etc...

I initially had no interest in this until I saw a buildup and saw how big it is. It is beautifully molded and detailed and very accurate. I don't know about making the wings move but it's not too difficult to change the position of the wings--I just used some plastruct quarter-inch tubing as a joint and secured the wings with brass rod. I sincerely doubt that Bandai will do this subject since in 1/72 it would be even larger and this kit is several times the size of any of the Bandai kits released so far.

I'm certainly warming up to that ship in it's flying pose. (not the parked pose like this model) but I just can't get enthused about a black star wars model. For me, the is all about painting and these black ones simply don't look as interesting to paint
