Went to my local mineral and crystal shop, and found a few quartz crystal shards. Naturally, my inner nerd came up with the idea to turn them into Kyber crystal replicas. I wanted to figure out the best way to give them the proper color, while also keeping their translucence. I was going to try pouring all my rage from failed past projects into the red one to give it that Sith crimson look, but that was taking way too long.
That's when I had the idea to use colored Sharpies! Sure enough, it gave them the perfect look! Spent a good hour covering the entirety of the crystals, gave them some clear coat to keep the color from rubbing and scuffing off, and there you have it!
I only did the 5 colors for lightsabers we've seen in the films so far, just to start off. For the yellow crystal (like the one in Rey's, the Temple Guard's, and Kenner Luke's lightsaber ) I used a mix of yellow and orange. It looks orange on it's own, but when light passes through it, it looks a lot more yellow.
