Kurtyboy's project updates: 24 July - More blasters

Re: Project updates 17 Oct - ESB blasters

I really don't know but it is quite old. I shall ask.

How old is the kit from TE?

I paid him $2k back in 2010 for an assembled ROTJ kit and I still have not received armor or compensation.

Early 2000s, but there were also other items he never received.

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Thanks Kurt for clearing that up. I know that Matt can pop up at a moments notice to suck money from folks then ship a few things while others never receive a thing nad have had $2k stolen from them with zero recourse. The one part of this hobby that I truly despise. I am still sickened with my experience.

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

sometimes I wonder if that nub was an old mount for a gun sling that they screwed to the top of the saber. Replaced the ring.

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

well that whole piece you have there looks reminiscent of the shroud on the MOM ROTJ...

hmmmm...

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

The original nub piece was red before painting black.

Anyone got accurate flat rivets for this saber? I was going to use Roy's but they are too big.

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Thanks, you're a star. Rivet head scales to about 6.5mm. Length not too important, anything over 8mm I suppose as it has to go through the Kobold and Graflex.
Send me your wanted dims, then i have a look in my boxes.

Project updates 29 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Painted the nub making sure some red is showing inside and through the black paint, painted the brass disc with thick silver paint, and replaced the base d-ring with a thicker one. Just the rivets to do.

Found something, pics compare to the ones i had in my Kobold-clip-set from Roy:

Head dia: Roys 7,5mm - mine 6,1mm
Head thickness: Roys 1,35mm - mine 0,9mm

Not exactly the droids you´re looking for, but a closer game.

I used them on my ESB bottom, you can check their look here (don´t worry, it´s my Vader ROTL build thread, i swapped the bottom later over to the Luke ESB): http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=139914

Btw. I don´t think the bottom plate is brass. :wacko

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Thanks for looking but your rivets are too rounded. I have looked through your build thread many times. Very neat stuff with machine precision that I could never match with my feeble skills LOL!

I still think it could be a brass disc covering the Graflex text. There's definitely some shiny brass finish showing through the thick silver paint/filler and it has a roughly cut edge that doesn't match the OD of the tube.

Disasembled for repainting with matt black instead of satin...

Project updates 31 Oct - Short barrel MGC

I received my short barrel MGC from France yesterday. This will hopefully work as the RotJ DL44 without the need to cut down the barrel.

Re: Project updates 24 Oct - Hero macros update

Hero macros pretty much done (for now I'm sure). I regret using matt black on these as the bright highlights in the publicity photos look more like semi-gloss. Maybe just polishing up the edges will suffice...

Heros and stunts.

Awesome builds.
Got me looking at pictures of this again why would there be a screw in the transition box where its seen here?

Re: Project updates 31 Oct - Short barrel MGC

I noticed that as well. Trooper interpreted it as a tube sticking out the back of the mystery box, but I think it's a round head screw like the ones I've added.

I can only guess there's another part in there that we're not aware of. Maybe a small view screen of some kind like what I've put in mine.

Re: Project updates 31 Oct - Short barrel MGC

I like the idea of the box being a flash part. I took apart a Vivitar 3500 to see what that looked like but was wrong, not until I started to take it apart I came across made 1981 for starters, there is quite a bit of circuitry and wires in some of these things.

Project updates 21 Nov: Blasters update!

Doing some upgrades to my ANH bowcaster. New side rails. Old ones were too narrow and the holes were all over the place! Improved the front sight as well. I had one screw holding each 'ear' on previously. Filled and drilled holes for two countersunk bolts.

And I got this :) (it's paint before you ask! Will be getting stripped and painted flat black anyway)
