Kurtyboy's project updates: 24 July - More blasters

Re: Project updates 13 Oct - Hero macros and ESB blasters

I also have both types, but i´m already pretty sure it´s 2 of each.

They had both too, why should they have gone the boring way with only 1 type?

Re: Project updates 17 Oct - ESB blasters

While the pumps on the RotJ blasters had squared channels, the ESB versions were shaped to fit the underside of the barrel jacket so I filled it in...

I'm back to where I was one week ago... the complete assembled blaster has been washed and is drying awaiting it's final coat of black paint tomorrow. This time I have not left it standing up on it's shoulder stock!

Re: Project updates 17 Oct - ESB blasters

Will you glue the pump to the stgw or drill/ tap and screw?

Re: Project updates 17 Oct - ESB blasters

Since no screws are visible on the ESBs, glue works for me!

Re: Project updates 17 Oct - ESB blasters

Again, ready for paint, although I'm having a problem with the grips which have warped after being wet :-\

The rear section came out better second time round. It was too tall before.

Re: Project updates 18 Oct - ESB blaster and boxes of fun

2 x RS
1x TE

And no, it's not all mine :p

Re: Project updates 18 Oct - ESB blaster and boxes of fun

So now you're also offering TK assembly comissions :)?!
Wish I had your time Marcus .... Envy again :cool

Re: Project updates 18 Oct - ESB blaster and boxes of fun

Nah, not doing commissions... screw that LOL!

One RS is mine, the other is Voice in the Crowd's and the TE is his as well which we were going to use as a test run. I don't think either of us have assembled a suit before - I certainly haven't! We will be going all out for accuracy. Every snap, nut, bolt, rivet, hook and strap etc. will be screen accurate in size and type and will be positioned to match the screen used suit RS own.

Project updates 24 Oct - Hero macros update

Decided to swap out the Kalimar knobs on my hero macros for Seagulls. Big thank you to Trooper for sending me a pair of Seagull knobs and one of his wedge boxes free of charge. In return I'm trying to help him with his Bowcaster project.

I used his resin wedge as a template for a making a metal one. My skills at folding such a piece of aluminium by hand are not great so it ended up a little too wide and I had to use filler to sharpen up the uneven edges.

Maybe one day I'll back light it,

Also added screws to Trooper's resin side box.

Re: Project updates 24 Oct - Hero macros update

Hero macros pretty much done (for now I'm sure). I regret using matt black on these as the bright highlights in the publicity photos look more like semi-gloss. Maybe just polishing up the edges will suffice...

Heros and stunts.

Re: Project updates 24 Oct - Hero macros update

Looks good. :):thumbsup

No Kalimar painting grey? I just got a black Kalimar, but its high gloss black looks as brand new as it´s overall appearance - i might save it for pure display and buy another for the grey lens.

The triangle part looks somehow off to me (not only the one you made, but all the triangle only shaped).

For my stunt i´m still looking for what´s the grey part between the camera and the black transition box - any hints what to search for. ;)

Re: Project updates 24 Oct - Hero macros update

Nah, I don't have the heart to paint the lenses grey. They would just look like resin castings LOL!

In both my macros I just printed an image on paper and put it behind the viewscreen from one of the TLR camers and glued it into the transition box. On my stunt macros the image is what Luke sees in the deleted scene.

Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Doing a little upgrade work on my Vader RotJ (are we still calling it this?) stunt saber. I think it was Neo Rutty that pointed out the hex bolt at the front d-ring should actually be a flat cheese head/filister screw but I couldn't find one the correct size that was cheap.

Before.

Anyway, I was sorting out my fixings/hardware collection and found one that did the job.

I filled the slot and also cut down the plastic base. Unfortunately I cut it down too much initially so had to use filler to extend it a little.

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Nice work! I'd never noticed that bit until today..nice D ring upgrade too :)

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Yeah I still need to find me a couple of those.

It seems a ROTJ MOM kind of day... currently cleaning up and trying to accurize a really weird one I found a couple years ago. Just gotta cut and glue some grips.

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Nice! I have to build one of these after selling my MR one. Of course with the price of Graflex flashes now, I might have to spend the same amount for this!

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

Thanks for the tipp! Have to get out the viewscreen of my Kalimar now and put it into. :thumbsup

Re: Project updates 25 Oct - Vader RotJ lightsaber upgrades

I feel like these ARE as accurate as we're going to get too....until we somehow get an idea of what the allen bolts screw into :lol
