Kuhn Global MR Stormtrooper Helmet

I received my MR Stormtrooper Helmet today! This is an item I have wanted for 30 years!

I remember viewing others comments on how the originals were pretty rough and wonky shaped. I had hoped that the MR version would be an "idealized" version as if it were being made for REAL Stormtroopers of the Empire. While I know the majority prefer the "real" wonky nature of the originals, I think they may have done a bit of each with this piece.

Looking at it, the beastie looks FANTASTIC! Immediately I noticed the shape issues in different areas. You can see them in one of the photos below. Then I noticed the hand painted grills and knew that they were going for the market of folks who liked the filming props.

Bottom line is that I like it! I am proud to add it to the collection. I may even add a full sized, fully armored and armed Stormtrooper mannequin soon in a battle pose. ;) (No,.. NOT from Sheperton, but possibly from one of your own respected specialists) :)

Thank you Master Replicas for offering this quality beastie as a licensed piece. :)

Enjoy the photos...

It looks quite good for what it is - an idealized version of what most fans see on-screen when they watch the Star Wars trilogy.
And although it is a "licensed piece" I still believe that in 99% of cases, non-licensed prop replicas are superior to their mass-produced *licensed* cousins.

Also, not wishing to start a 20-page-long SDS-bashing thread / flame war.... but the ridge on the back of this MR helmet is a perfect replica of the ridge on the back of an AA / SDS replica helmet.... but sadly looks nothing like the ridge on the original movie helmets..... interesting :unsure

Cheers,
John

You got a nice low number as well, very cool ! Allways thought the first 200 or so allways made out as promotional items or to top execs so again thats a cool thing to have braging rights on. Congrats and thanks for the nice shots.
:thumbsup

It ain't a Kuhn Global post without a bluescreen shot and Kurt in the pic with it... come on man, don't dissappoint us.

LOLOLOLOLOL... I will see what I can do about Blue Screen shots! LOLOLOL

Thanks Fellas! :D I really like the beastie. I also agree... some of the folks out there (in THIS community) doing this helmet, and the armor to go with it, may indeed have the more accurate piece to the originals. I truly think that MR was playing two sides of the coin for the interest in this piece. They kept some of the "wonkiness" while making it more "idealized" in what we all imagined would be perfect if real. They did indeed do a great job. :)

LOLOLOL... I am not sure I qualify as a top executive of sorts.... lololol... I think I just got in on the ordering the moment they offered them. I even ordered 2! But then, by their request, gave up one for someone else to have. I am really no different than anyone else. I am just a guy trying to collect kewl stuff.... like all of you. :) We are all much alike.

Rob... thank you my friend! The Prop and Costume area has really sparked interest for me. My plan is to have a display somewhat reminiscent of that of a mid-evil armory. Like the Tower of London has.... only with Science Fiction characters... and in battle poses. Like some of the 'action' toys out there. ;) It will indeed take some time. However, when it is done, it will be something for ALL of us to enjoy! :)

Thanks again for looking.... and the kind words fellas! :D

The MR Fett should arrive in a month or so. ;)

Any interior shots?

I really want to see what the inside looks like - especially for us intersted in costuming. (Possibly even wearing it). Did they do any work to the inside of the helmet or is it jus an empty shell?

Thanks for showing it off!

Here's an interior shot of one of the prototypes I took over the summer - there's no difference internally on the produciton helmets (and only minor ear changes on Proto 2)

Nice!! I have several stormtrooper helmets but I think I will have to add another after seeing your pics. Very nice!!
It is a shame that MR lost the licensing rights. I would like to have seen what else they would have done.

Looks like the eyes were mounted last on the final deal, as opposed to prior to the lining as Jez' pic shows.

HA!! :eek I hadn't noticed that! Very interesting indeed! Good call Ghost Host! :)

Snake, MR may have done away with the license, but I am certain there is another that will pick it up sooner or later. ;) I am still expecting their Fett helmet this coming month.

Yeah, good point Steve. MR changed that so the lenses could be swapped following the "were they grey or green" debate.

Cheers
