I see one for sale on EvilBay.
I wonder the reason for selling it?
I may ask a question or two.

Interesting..

David stated he shipped the beastie to me yesterday with the return tag I provided him. THANKS AGAIN DAVID...

That said,.. I would imagine we will see his own build soon enough... or hope to anyway. ;) I would love to see the one Bob has done as well. :D

As of right now,.. I think mine is thoe only one built up form those that were delivered. What a bummer.

At least Dave showed that it could look good if it is built. :D

What's that auction number for the beastie on Ebay?

Looks like this seller is using Miles original pics from his auctions of what he had posted. I would be curious to see pics of the actual model itself since it can't the one he shows in the picture. His other auctions look interesting.

Looks like there are 2 bids... you one of them?

Interesting indeed. Even the wording is careful not to use the DeSanto name. :confused

No Sir, not me...
I've washed my hands of this model and Mike.
Told him to keep his kit and the money if he was going to be an @ss about it.
I will not be roped into anything from him.
I'm not missing anything by what's in your detailed photos anyway.
If I want a Desanto Viper, I will probably scratch build one when I get motivated.

I still have Jesse's original and Frank and MoeÂ’s Starbuck vipers to do yet.
They both sit in my "to do pile" along with many other kits.
I'm thinking about grabbing Frank & Moe's Mk VII when it comes out.
I'm also waiting for the Revell/Monogram re-release to come out, as well as models from the new show.

Yes,.. and the anticipation is killing me. :p There are only a few guys I will consider kits from,.. and they are high on my list. ;)

If I build a Desanto Viper it would most likely be in the scale of the Revell/Monogran Viper.
I like that size of the kit, not too big and not too small.
I'm quickly running out of display space and I still have kits like the PL refit Enterprise and Fine Scale Millennium Falcon to build as well as the other 1/24 scale Vipers.
So many models and so little space.
This is the image that got me interested in the Desanto Viper.

Yeah Kurt.

I'm sure glad you like it so far because it sure was a pain to put together. Not sure about the rest of you who got one of these but there are some major hurdles to overcome and towards the end (with Kurt's advice of course) I ended up doing only so much to get this thing together. For one, the fuselage had a very nice nasty curve to it as if the mold was not laying flat or some eager beaver pulled out the part beforeit was fully cured. Getting that fuselage then to mate up to the other 2 large sections was t-r-i-c-k-y. I'm going to take some time on mine and figure out wat to do first.

If one wanted to spend waaaay more time on this it would need a lot of re-doing and scratch building, especially in the poorly molded center "techy" section. Ugh. As Kurt mentioned previously, I hope this inspires others to either bug King Michael for what he owes them OR finish off your own and be creative.

On another note, I'm an industrial designer by trade and there is some funky detailing on this Viper. I find it almost impossible to believe that this was what Desanto or the film designers intended and Michael was "channeling" this into 3D. I've heard "Desanto" thrown out left and right by Michael concerning this project but I have my doubts as to Mr. Dees participation.

BUT....things can be made pretty. I've learned this works on people in LA also. :lol

That being said....Kurt :) :thumbsup

Michael, coming from one of the California jerks as you called me...because I dared get my refund before the oncoming trainwreck.... :p

Dave

LOLOLOLOL... ahh David. :lol You're killing me. :lol

That had to have been bottled up for a bit, eh? ;) At least you got it out now. And built the first 1/24 DeSanto Viper. :)

Looks like the beastie will be here tomorrow. Can't Wait... :D

If you build yours soon, I would love to see a step by step process of your rescue of that kit. As well as any custom work you may do on it.

Regarding DeSanto... I think Mark D. is friends with him and I would be curious to here if he really had anything to do with that project.

Thanks again for doing this rescue build. I will post pics tomorrow hopefully. ;)

Barry,.. killer pic. I would also love to see what you do with the smaller scale DeSanto if you do it. ;)

That said,.. I would enjoy seeing the DeSanto concept stuff created, but with DeSanto standing directly behind the project in plain view. That would be very interesting.

Yes we are friends. I have not spoken to him in a while. He was very busy with Transformers and I don't know what the standing is with him and Mike. I know he had faith in him at one point but after all that has gone on I truely don't know what his thoughts are now.
Tom is a super nice guy. He is one of the real persons out there that keeps his word no matter who you are. I hope this Viper project didn't cause him any problems. With that said, Kurt, I saw that you tried to call. Been very ill, again. How long will the chemo keep my immune system down?
I'm still able to work on things but tire quickly. That is why I have a partner on the Base Star project.
I think your DS Viper looks great. Too bad Mike couldn't of reached out and been more controlled in his replies :angry I guess he tried the best he could. I just don't know.

Mark

Part of me wants to give this kit a go, I believe I could do it justice. BUT the other part of me just wants to sell it and apply the money to other things. Can't make up my mind. Plus I think most who wanted this kit already paid for the kit once and never even got it :angry . That just sucks.

That would be me. I called Mike earlier...left message. Will see.

Mark,.. get pleanty of rest. There is no rush to speak. When you are better, we can discuss much. DeSanto projects as well. ;) :D

Chris,.. I would LOVE to see you do your build. Your Viper builds are GREAT... :D

Steve,.. the whole situation just plain stinks. I wouldn't begin to guess how many were sold and not delivered at this point. I wish you luck in your recovery process.

BTW... the finished bird arrived today. Davids pics don't do it justice of what he accomplished in this kit/build rescue. I will try to get some green screen photos up soon. ;)

Hey there one and all.
Nice work on the build up... It is nice to see one built from this fiasco.
I too had ordered two of the kits from Mikey..... and have yet to see them.
All he can offer is one excuse after another. The lastest one is that they are waiting to recast when their weather is more normal...... :eek
I can say this though..... if or when I get them... I will be building them... (or at least one and fixing the parts on the other)
I will deffinatly post here when I do and you all can follow my progress.
The finished one looks great...
I have one question..... Is the paint job you decided on how they were to look or just conjecture?

I was surprise to see a pickup notice for me today from the post office.
I wasn't expecting anything this week, so off to my local post office pickup station I went
Laid down my money and quickly looked at the return name to give me some idea as to where it came from and what it was
I didn't recognize the name and it stated "Resin Kit".
I didn't recall ordering any resin kit or waiting for any resin kit either.
Got home and took a look in the box to see what resin kit it was, and lo and behold a Mikey Viper was sent to me
After a quick parts examination and minor test fitting, it looks like it may be buildable.
I won’t know for sure until I get it on my workbench some time later.
I am currently busy with other models in various stages of progress.
Once finished I will give the Desanto Viper a go to see how she turns out.
Later, Barry.
