End of an era

Ugh, this is just sad news. I hope they can bounce back from this. You will never find a nicer group of amazing artists. These guys pioneered EVERYTHING. I am incredibly proud to have spent four years on Kerner with them. Part of my heart will always be up on that street. Man, we blew some **** up back in the day.

I'm going to refrain from saying anything negative here, and I hope all these heroes of cinema are happy and doing what they love.

Oh yeah...as if it wasn't enough that Kerner did Star Wars, Indy, Harry Potter, Terminator, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters and just about everything else you know and love - it was also the birthplace of THX, Photoshop, and Pixar.

Truly, some of the best people I have ever known.

Just to clarify did they split from ILM? Is this ILM? Ignorant on the details. I would be shocked to hear ILM's assets were so low.

I was under the impression Lucas showed them the door. Not GL's fault they went chapter 11, but it's too bad GL couldn't have provided better business consultation as a thank you. I've seen uber-talented I.T. people fail miserably at the business hand of start-ups. I guess it's the whole going the way of the Dodo thing for practical model makers.

I didn't realize the kerner 3-d part was separate. That was a wise move.

For those who don't know...

Chapter 7 is Liquidation

Chapter 11 is reorginization

So they may just simply be trying to protect the business, Chapter 11 is not necessarily the end.

Update:

I spoke to a friend who works there and he said it's nothing to worry about, they are not going out of business!
