Kermit the Frog replica puppet (Kermit meets STAN LEE! pg4)

Re: Kermit the Frog replica puppet (FINISHED PUPPET pg2)

Milo,

Well, either way he's a fantastic Kermit. And when your ready for him to find a new home please keep me in mind. If I can afford it when the time comes, he'll spend his days on my hand entertaining my daughter Portia. :)

There are worse things for a frog to do than that right?
Now if you'll excuse me I have to go work on my "Jim Voice".

Re: Kermit the Frog replica puppet (FINISHED PUPPET pg2)

As you can see orders are lining up quickly Milo . . . you could make a regular monthly income from selling kermit muppets now that you've got the hang of it :lol

Excellent job,

What I'd recommend is visiting Professional Puppet Patterns, Puppet Building Tutorials, and Materials
They not only sell patterns for making your own custom puppets, but they also stock supplies and tutorials. Kermit was a little more of a custom job, but Abby should be doable by using the "Pinhead" pattern and a short pink faux fur fabric.

There are some other REALLY helpful tutorials at Puppet Building and Performing | Muppet Central Forum

That was fantastic!
You've got a fairly impressive "Kermit" voice to boot!
Congrats!

Re: Kermit the Frog replica puppet (FINISHED PUPPET pg2)

Milo, how did you attatch the eyes? Your build inspired me to make my own. I've got the head and body built. I just need to do the collar, arms/hands, and eyes. I've been brainstorming ways to fix on the eyes but I tend to obfuscate things when I take to long. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The eyes were attached by cutting a circle of 1/2" upholstery foam the same size as the base of the eye, and gluing it in with hotglue. The now capped-off eye dome is then hotglued to the fabric. I might look into some different methods, hopefully I can figure out a way to do it slightly lighter weight. Maybe a different type of glue.

Re: Kermit the Frog replica puppet (FINISHED PUPPET pg2)

I had thought of something similar but it evolved into the idea machining, on my lathe, a small compound curved insert to put in the bottom of the eye void. Overkill! Your suggestion is much simpler. Thanks!
