Just saw my first 3D movie...what a scam

Saw my first 3D movie (Alice in Wonderland) today and the whole 3D effect never presented itself. When I watched it all the glasses did was dim the movie and I saw no difference than if I had watched a movie in 2D. Seriously am I the only one that the 3D effect doesn't seem to work on? I also had a horrible headache afterwards.

Honestly Alice is cheap when it comes to the 3D. It was all filmed in 2D and then converted to 3D afterward. Go watch Avatar in 3D instead.

But if you couldn't tell there was a 3D effect maybe something's wrong with your eyes.

Saw avatar and the 3d was fantastic. Saw the toy stories and it was decent.
No headaches, surprisingly. I thought for sure I'd get them.

My husband usually has a hard time with 3D movies; he also usually winds up with a headache afterward. However, he did NOT have that problem with Avatar though he could see the 3D effect. I think it's the heavy-handed 'uber' 3D, as I've dubbed it, that causes the most problems as he said he did have a bit of a headache following the Hubble trailer, but it went away shortly into Avatar.

Are you blind in one eye, or have a big difference in one or the other?

Ill never forget being young and a friend of mine trying to see the 3d in a virtual boy sayin the same thing... not thinkin he couldnt see out of one eye...

Alice was originally going to be fully shot in 3D, however Burton found it difficult to work with. After having already done some shooting in 3D he decided to shoot the rest in 2D and convert it in post.

I saw My Bloody Valentine in 3D, yes it was better over those paper glasses from years ago but I am just not a fan of this technology. When they can do it without the stupid glasses then I'll be all for it!!

Ah that might explain it. I am right eye dominant and never been able to see the image in the 3D posters famous in the 90's. I had heard the new 3D was better and able to be seen easier. I guess I'm at fault :unsure

Haven't seen "Alice", but I saw the awful "The Final Destination" in 3D, and "Avatar" in 3D twice. Every time, I noticed the 3D for the first 20 minutes or so, then it was like my brain just flattened out the image anyway.

Don't know what it is with people and "the glasses". I wear glasses anyway so maybe that's why I don't really give it a thought. :confused

The best 3D ive seen thus far, was, G-Force. It was what it was with no excuses or hid behinds. Just a stupid fun movie. Alice in Wonderland was mostly a blur of 3D, boring, droll... I simply refuse to see Dances with Smurfs.

So far, the best 3D work I've seen done was in the Toy Story 1&2 rerelease. It added so much more depth than was origianlly there. Wasn't too impressed with the 3D in Avatar though.

Agreed - not a huge fan of the format.

Saw Avatar in digital 3D and was not impressed.

Everyone should find a Nivida kiosk demonstrating their new 3D system, it's one of the best systems I have seen in awhile...

As for the two color paper 3D glasses, equal eye power makes all the difference in the effect... If one of your eyes is significantly better than the other the effect will diminish significantly...

Certain shows are planning to remedy that problem with a simple, yet effective, trick. Tintin will be the first to use it, from what I hear.

I noticed the same thing with Superman Returns in 3D it was disappointing!!

It has a kind of Flat and kind of 3D...

Avatar was NOT!
