Just a Caution on Dealing with jonesfx

While we're not being helpful at all... I think the obvious answer is not to use Paypal. Seriously. I can see it for Ebay transactions, but anything else? I know... You have an account and it's "convenient". But then again, so is ripping you off by filing a fraudulent claim. Mmm... Convenience.

You can try that but it's very hard to do. I've never had serious issues with PAYPAL over the years . MO and checks are fine , but too few people take them. I will , but my wife works for a bank so i never have issues with things like that.
cutting out paypal is like a clothing store saying they won't sell to women. You are cutting off a major portion of your business.

This is very odd, because I knew Paul for many years and he was truly one of "us"... a VERY cool, easy-going fellow, who would give you the shirt off his back.

Looks like this could be sorted out with some good communication. I have never know him to be a "hard nose".

Sorry to hear about your situation. I am sure Paul will work with you to get it resolved.

I'm not holding my breath. He filed the Paypal dispute, he was given proof it was shipped, and now Paypal sided with him so I am out the money and the door without even a word from him.

Have you called PayPal and sent them your paper trail of shipping info? It would seem with your info you have that PayPal should see that the item was shipped and that the carrier is at fault not YOU.

I had dealings with PayPal from similar type situations in which the Buyer submits a dispute without any contact mainly because they didn't read the eBay description. 100% of these disputes I called PayPal and immediately asked for a fax number to the individual I was talking to so I could submit my paper trail. 100% of the time PayPal said I had my documentation in order and released my funds while on the phone.

I'm not sure that it'd make a difference. Paul paid through Paypal and had his shipping address listed in there. I generated a shipping label directly from the Paypal site, so it's tied to the Paypal purchase. The tracking number itself was generated from USPS through Paypal so it's all clearly showing the item was shipped. Paul just decided to file the dispute without making any real effort to try to resolve this. I just want people to know what to expect from dealing with him so if they decide they're going to send anything to him that they protect themselves from his practices.

I know it really stinks for the people I sell to in Canada but I refuse to be burned anymore by shady buyers. Now, if it's someone I know and I've dealt with before I will send USPS. But someone new or someone on eBay. It always goes UPS.

And that's all I'm saying, add Paul to that list of buyers that just can't seem to be trusted. Protect yourself.

That sounds fair from a buyers perspective. If the seller is someone I trust (ie: someone here with a good reputation) I have no problem using a different form of payment to avoid the UPS scenario if that makes the buyer more comfortable...
