JURASSIC WORLD Owen Grady Costume

Yeah, I think that was purely a joke...

I chatted with another Orvis representative today, and they refunded the difference between the one caster shirt that I purchased at regular price and the new sale price. I'll be getting the $30 gift card here soon, and then I'll put that towards my belt!

I purchased a blue shirt in an Orvis store last week at full price. I called the company and storefront yesterday and asked if they would refund the difference with the current sale price. They said yes if I brought my receipt and card I paid with into the store.

I went into the store quickly today at lunch to get the refund and the sales associate there said, "Just to nip this in the bud now, we don't refund the difference for an item bought before a sale and the person you spoke with yesterday was wrong." I told him that a rep from Orvis HQ who I also spoke with yesterday said they would refund the difference. He relented and reluctantly refunded the difference.

Just an FYI for anyone considering the same.

well, thanks RPF, I now have rediverted my food funds into a Owen Grady outfit...

Belt and shirts coming my way :)

Im 6'2" with a 40" chest so i ordered one M Tall and one large... we'll see how they fit, Orvis has amazing Cust service! they honored the belt sales price too!

Received my third pair of pants today (Just Jeans 5 Pocket Chino) and I think they are a really close alternative to the J Brand Kane. They have the similar brown undertone. This is also the Large Orvis shirt. Medium on the way.

CJKent, you're looking good man! The fit on your shirt is really good too. Mine is a bit baggy, but yours looks almost fitted.

Also, I'm currently talking to another Orvis representative. Apparently they now know the caster shirt and the belt are for those "costume guys". LOL. I've been chatting about the costume and the film on the online chat for a while now, and they're just as stoked to know their products were used as we are.

On the flip side of things, he has also told me the belt (though unlisted on the site) is in fact $79 MSRP online. He's going to contact my nearest store (5-6 hours away) to see if he can give me a sale price or something...Fingers crossed...

I'd say the Large looks close to the sizing in the film, out of curiosity what's your height and chest? I'm trying to gauge how my shirts are going to fit...

Jeans look great btw

I just finished up my conversation Tanner at Orvis. I've got say, no customer service can match these guys, EVER.

[Tanner] So, are you getting anyone to wear the $4,000+ Raptor suits?
[Zach] I wish! My girlfriend has said she wanted to be Blue, but I think she might settle for being Claire instead.
[Tanner] In those shoes?
[Tanner] Haha, I thought about asking my fiance if we could just go to the justice of the peace and buy a raptor suit with all the money for the wedding instead.
[Tanner] Not sure how well that would go :)
[Zach] LOL! Tell her she needs to change her priorities, because raptor suits are pretty darn important!!!
[Tanner] I know, right!
[Zach] I think I'm going to have my girlfriend start running laps in heels, just to make sure she can handle running during Halloween!
[Tanner] Oh man!
[Tanner] As long as she ties her shirt sleeves around her waist, she will be ready!

First of all, I'd just like to say you guys who have put in the leg work to identify everything have done an amazing job. My wallet is perhaps less thankful, but I am.

Can anyone who bought the J Brand Kane's tell me if they run TTS? I'm thinking of taking the plunge on them but I don't fancy shipping the wrong size back and forth

Thanks

I'm 5'11" (6' on a good day, lol). 42-44 Chest.

Whilst the shirt looks fitted in my pics, it's tucked around in the back, so I'm hoping a medium will solve that problem.

Sweet thanks!

I feel better about getting the medium now!

Huge thanks to everyone for all their hard work! This community never ceases to amaze me!

I'm the same measurement, and the medium is still a bit big on me. I wondered if you had tucked it in the back or something.

Thanks! I might have to go with that one, myself.

As far as lookalikes go, I might be making a replica of the rifle out of MDF/wood, since none of the other avenues are all that appealing to me and it seems like a fun and challenging build.

Another approach might be custom knife kits, or at least after market handle scales. I don't know how much variety there is in DYI knife kits but there might some out there that are real close. The good post about the kids are, if you can find a blade that matches the screen used one then you can try to find a handle to match or make one. Actually, if you can find matching handle scales that would allow you to make a con friendly funny knife, just attach them to some foam, a piece of plastic, or even wood because, in its sheath, no-one is going to know the difference.

Had a friend drop in to Orvis for my shirt and belt today. She showed them the online sale and they matched the shirt right there on the spot with no problem. Bonus tip- if you sign up for the email list they'll give you 10 bucks off your in-store purchase. Got everything for under $100.

If someone has access to a copy of the movie, Owen un-sheaths his knife a couple of times. Screen grab may be?

I've been lurking for a bit on this thread and was really waiting till the watch was confirmed for real before buying anything. So I bit the bullet and bought the Orvis shirt, G Shock, along with a Henley from J Crew and some dark chinos as a stand in. The henley looks very close and was super cheap through the J Crew "Factory" website. It's pretty much their outlet store that now has an online presence in the past couple years. The shirt was on final sale but I could only find a Med/Tall size in the off white color that looks screen accurate. I have more of an athletic build and would have def preferred a large but it does fit very snug in the film so I'll take pictures when it arrives. Who knows about the fit of the pants but I can always return them.
TL;DR Go to J Crew factory website for the henley at a great price.

Early in this thread there was a pretty good shot of the knife in a photo from the guy who made it. That's what I based off of to find an alt.

Right, eastlands, henley, jbrands and now the orvis belt all on their way!! hope they get here in time!! For anyone in the UK, it's the same situation as the US for the belts, call up give them code 2c7c and the size and they can tell you the store to order from, 45+7.50 express shipping.

Hey mate. I'm in the same boat; it turned out cheaper for me to buy the Orvis shirt from the US and to ship it over than it did to buy it here in the UK!
Where did you get the Eastlands from, the actual website? It seems like one of the few places you can get the Chocolate ones, and none that I can find based in the UK
