im not sure if this is a prop or Costume question.

I cant find a decent close up Picture of Judge Dredds (stallone) Lawgiver Holster, ive got one of his belt but not the actual holster.

Id always assumed it was made from perspex (clear plastic) but now i think its just a black plastic housing attached to what looks like a swing arm which in turn is attached to the belt

if anyone could host some decent pictures of this id be very grateful and also some other suggestions on the Movie Version Gun Rig

many thanks

oddly as i read this i had the making of judge dredd book right next to me, the pics of the costume show it as clear perspex in the book, they aren't massively clear but its definitely see through, sadly i am without a scanner to put them up. i'll try and take a pic with my camera and put it up

right these are just with my phone as the camera battery is charging, i'll try and put some better ones up in an hour or two. but it should give you the general idea

the perspex is not just a folded shape it has been vacformed first to create to pocket sections to fit the grooved front part of the lawgiver in order to hold it in place

That is a great Picture many thanks, also note the Hexagon piece identical to the Han Solo Gun Rig

Im sure someone here was selling those Hexagon pieces.

The only Part of making that Gun Rig that will be difficult is the perspex Part hmmmmmmmm

Is there anyone here that works with Perspex molding or knows where i could get that made preferably UK

youll need the lawgiver part to form the perspex to, itll be a clip type system that holds the weapon in place using the indent where the lights run...

never seen these made to be honest, but id be interested if someone did a run

oh hi nootch :)

On a related topic, something I've always wondered... what is the black grooved material that was used to make the belt, pouches, and straps for the holster? :confused

It looks like it's rubber? :confused

Yes your right it was a rubber belt :thumbsup i actually know someone who has the Mold for this and im hoping he will do a run of Rubber belts.

I assume (could be wrong) the Boxes that are also on the Gun Rig where just off cuts of the rubber Belt and turned into the Belt Boxes, if this is the case then this is great as belt boxes can be made out of the same Mold

Im really intrigued as to know if we can source the Knee Pads, anyone have thoughts on this at all.

I looked into the Gloves that are worn and another assumption i have is since the boots were MotoCross boots then the gloves could have possibly been Motocross Gloves too finding the actual Make they used could be a problem however ive found some that has plastic protective covers on the backs that could easily be painted up, and id be very suprised if the prop guys who made the movie didnt do the same thing if indeed they did use Motocross gloves

yeah, they were motocross gloves, they were really popular throughout the 90's everyone at school wanted them for there bikes, my mate had a pink and white pair. they were obviously heavily modded with the forarm section and all the spangly bits. i'll have an interweb hunt and see what i can come up with, as for the kneepads i think those badboys were custom made along with the rest of the main armour.

will be trying to get the movie art book at some point this week, that might shed more light on things

Great Stuff :thumbsup i lover the way members of the RPF can nail stuff down

I wonder if just like the boots a certain Model of gloves were used this could help in finding the right ones

after looking at some of the pics, i think they've actually removed the plastic backing from the moto gloves then attached it to leather ones, as i remember the bike ones being made from a nylon like material. not having much luck finding some as they are really old, however i may have made a break through with paintball gloves such as these with some major mods and gold bits

i also think this thread might have to be moved to the costume section as well now

hahahahaha i think you may be right ................. great find too il check those out

As we seem to be heading down the Motocross theme i assume then that the Judges armour were set onto Midified Motocross Shoulder Protection

from what i've read the armour is custom, the book mentions how they made a full model of stallone to create his armour section by section in order to get it right, but to be honest other than the badge and the clasp at front the main structure seems quite an easy set-up to make, the eagle however is another matter as though it appears that only the bottom section of the "feathers" moved apparantly every one had articulation. and i've never seen anything that shows the inside of the armour. the most annoying thing is i was in new york in september and they have the costume or a replica at planet hollywood, we went in for food the night we got there, i took a crappy pic with my phone with plans to go back with the camera and take some decent ones another day but never had the chance.

as you can see one of the bars from the left shoulder is missing, this is the same model from one of your threads a while back about the eagle but seems to have been damaged at some point.
i'd love to do a movie and a comic version, sadly current unemployment is holding me up.
