Though I wanted the original design, I'm seeing far more similarities at second glance than I first noticed. I'm really starting to like this design. Honestly I've only ever been a fan of the original and movie style designs leaning more toward the movie version(TWOK) to be more precise. I think this will definitely be my third favorite design. I really do see more than just a few crossovers between the two designs. I believe this thing will rock on screen.

Some of the clearer angles from the available imagery. I'm sure better grabs from the trailer will be available after Monday.
While I still don't know about those weird cowlings on the warp engines, and of course the odd bowlegged support struts :lol I do have to admit that this ship has got some nice proportions on her from the front and rear angles. I'm digging the TAPER of the nacelles, which is rather exaggerated. The secondary hull looks weird in side view but OK from front and back. And of course the saucer is nearly stock TMP, so it's hard to find fault with that.
Probably by the time the film comes out I'll be preordering the Master Replicas three foot version. :lol

I agree with ya phase pistol, after seeing the trailer and hopefully some good screen grabs soon, she is a nice ship, has great lines, I don't even see how disporportioned she is, I'm loving the new design!!!

I'm fine with the new Enterprise look - they were never going to make it look like the TOS version. I saw the trailer on the big screen today with the new Bond film and loved both. This ain't your daddy's "Star Trek!" But it looks like an exciting movie with a lot of elements that made Trek what it is. Even more excited for it now!
Well, there is one element of this film totally unchanged from TOS: Vasquez Rocks

I noticed that. Seeing Spock jump around those rocks gave me the onset of goosebumps.
I just noticed from the collection of pics that phase pistol put up there apears to be a small fin poping out of the top back of each nacell?
There are two fins on the back of the nacells, you can see them in the construction yard shot.

I said it before and I'll say it again... I have NO concern with JJ Abrams. He's gonna' do this good.
This film is gonna' be like a breath of fresh air for Star Trek, like The Next Generation was.
And I can't believe what's gotten me most excited about those scenes... Is seeing Kirk getting the hotties! :lol
Seeing that ALONE, is like being told you won the lottery. :lol

Just saw the trailer as well and it looks just as bad as I thought it would. How old is the kid at the beginning - 12? I know it may be hard to see though all the wiz bang - but this looks like a missed target.
The "shark fins" atop the propulsion units on the AST Enterprise seem to correspond to the "intercoolers" on the familar TOS Enterprise.
