Jedi Soft Parts

Has anyone used hemp cloth, like a BJJ Gi, for Jedi soft parts? I've never worked with it, quite curious how well the fabric cuts, stitches, and hangs. My Gi is pretty stiff, and I imagine it's 10-12oz cloth, but I feel like the cut & feel would be more like what an actual combat style outfit would be. If it works, I'm considering 6oz hemp fabric.

I've personally never used hemp in any costumes I've made but I do have a few suggestions that may be helpful to you. 1. Use natural fiber materials because they breathe better. 2. Depending on how many layers your outfit will have, especially for prequel styled Jedi, it's better to use thin, lightweight material because it gets hot very quickly. You'd be surprised how fast it heats up. 3. Thinner materials also add up quickly and the thicker it is, it's harder to sew. 4. Find a material that drapes nicely. Stiffer materials tend to look kind of sloppy when they get too wrinkled with repeat washings. I would recommend raw silk tussah, loosely woven cotton, Wool gabardine, linen. Hope this helps you.
