Jedi Armor Bodysuit?

Hi. This will be my first costume build ever. I've put together a nice bit of raw materials and am excited to get started, but I'm having some trouble figuring out what to do about the bodysuit.

I'm sure you've seen these but here are the pics I'm looking at:

It looks like maybe some old-school thermal material? Maybe one option is to find some thermal shirts/longjohns and try to get creative? I'm concerned that the final look will be cheap though.

Another option might be to get a 2-piece clone trooper bodysuit IF I can get the color to a nice medium brown or brownish-grey. The texture isn't quite right, but it might work well with some (hopefully minor) alterations. Any idea if these could be bleached, then dyed?

For reference, here are the requirements from Rebel Legion:

"2. Light Brown full body undersuit, specifically tights or other body fitting clothing. One or two piece, but join must not be easily visible. Any zippers must be hidden by robe."

"4. Full body undersuit constructed of thermal or ribbed material as seen in images with light brown bias tape around visible neckline."

So. Any thoughts on how to do this accurately and efficiently? I'm not overly concerned with cost though I don't want to get too crazy; I'm more concerned with quality.

FWIW, I'm hoping to have the whole costume done by April when I'll be going to my first Celebration event. :)

Thanks!

I would be wary about bleaching. Fabric dyes are often composed of several individual dyes of several colours, and bleach may lighten each of these differently - so the result may not be what you expect.

As to dyeing, check what type of fibres they are made of. Natural fibres such as cotton, linen or wool are the best. Synthetic fibres are made of plastics, basically and they don't take dye easily. RIT, iDye Poly and Dylon are the ones that I have heard work better on synthetic fibres, but it varies from hue to hue and sometimes the formulas change.

Ok, thanks. I'm not sure how much choice I'll have unless I find something like the above bodysuit in brown. So far I'm coming up with nothing online.

Looking forward to this thread. I have some old thermal pajamas like the ones above. Might be interesting to see if they can be put to use like this! Always loved the old republic styles!

Well, we will find out. I picked up some Rit dye. I also grabbed some boots I plan to use.

3. Dark brown ankle high slip on Boots, with no zippers/laces, able to be tucked under shin Armor.
