No idea if this is a geniune prop from the film but that gun is HUGE!!
Anybody able to identify any existing weapons parts from this?

It looks like its mostly heat guard. Shouldn't be any more heavy than an m60.

I may be wrong but I think that's what it is.

I have friends in four different areas of this show: design, VFX, production office... even an actor! But I still know nothing about it. I don't even bother to ask.

All I do know is that post- is on target, though.

So no one else feels like this is a big let down ? I mean this is from the guy that gave us the pulse rifle right ? Shouldn't we be getting something even more awesome with this film ? It's been a long time scents the pulse rifle was drawn up and I really think enough time has gone by that some one should be able to give us another Iconic weapon, am I wrong ?

Is this going to be some kind of " laser zappo gun " ? I don't see a clip or a belt. They have all but decommissioned the m60 because there are better lighter weapons now. Are we supposed to believe in the future we are going to go back to this ? I love the m60, sticking some crap on it and saying it's something else seems disrespectful, let alone a cop out.

Am I the only person that's even a little ticked off about this ? Does anyone else even care ?

So close to the release of the film now, are there any pictures or screencaps of this gun? I saw a "Thanator Chase" Scene a while ago, and I loved the gun used in it.

This gun gets no love...no mention on the Pandorapedia, nor in the 'Activist Survival Guide' book. IMFDB calls it the "AVR-30".
I'm slowly working on building one. Knowing it's a modded M60, it will be 49" long.

Well, I was wrong. After some more research, turns out this gun _is_ on Pandorapedia (here) and in in the book, but it's called the "GS-221". (I guess AVR-30 was just somebody at the IMFDB's fanon name for it, based on it being a .30 cal gun from AVataR). What added to the confusion was that on the site and in the Activist book, the description is incorrectly paired with pictures of Matanza's CARB rifles instead.

Length is 1346 mm or 52.9 inches, so I guess my build will be 93% of the real thing.
