James Earl Jones Retires As Vader’s Voice

The question really becomes, do we NEED more Darth Vader. I love the character but he had his own trilogy. Got to be the baddy for the originals, and has been trotted out for nostalgia bate for the last decade. Honestly his entire story has been told from childhood to death. So have just about all the legacy characters.

I don't care at all what he did for some miniscule window of time. Surely at some point he did take a vacation? Do we need a movie or show to go into it? The EU had the same issue.

Time to move on. His story is long over. Let's see something new. For all this talk of such a vast galaxy they sure don't explore much outside the same old stuff. At least Andor shows some promise in that regard.

Honestly the fact that he's been the voice in all the films thus far is quite a feat. That's a 45 year intermittent job, which isn't a bad deal for a working actor.

At 91 the man has long earned the right to do whatever he likes. As much as I love Vader, let's hope Disney can actually deliver telling stories without having to constantly bring back legacy characters. From what I've heard thus far, Andor has delivered in this regard and I think that's a step in the right direction.

And although his voice is ICONIC as Vader, the time he spent actually performing his lines was MINISCULE for the films, with HUGE GAPS OF YEARS in between. He has done so much more than Vader and is so accomplished otherwise, yet Vader will dominate his eventual obituary.

Don't question. Consume rehashed old product, then get excited for next rehashed old product.

Absolutely. Vader is but one of a long list of credits to his name. Like Sir Alec Guinness before him, he will be remembered as Vader, likely more than anything else.

Short answer, yes.
I will always take more Vader.

Surely you want to see the latest planned Disney + limited series that covers Vader’s first extended holiday, when Palpatine forced him to use up some of his accrued leave hours called:

i was gonna lurk a little longer and see if any of the ogs would mention how JEJ didn't want his name on the credits...and they weren't on first release. he later changed his tune....

off topic i noticed the slightly naughty look on her face....

Well, Carrie and her stunt double Tracy Eddon could get into trouble...

They already did it with SW: Biomes. So that was all Lucasfilm. Haha. In all fairness it's perfectly innocuous but hey, I went for the laugh. Lol

So this could pass for modern journalism?

It's all over social media as well. News outlet sells information to the Russian government for pennies on the dollar.
Next up.... cupcakes! How you and your family can earn extra income by baking those delicious little treats from every day kitchen ingredients!

You mean like that type of journalism? Just tell facts? Don't rehash the same info and mix it in with false information and advertisements?

The digital/AI/Deep Fake techs will permit some of us to hear the voices and see our family members that have passed away long ago...yes, I know; it sounds creepy for some and a good idea for others...to each its own as they say. It's a brave New World out there and, speaking of the Press/T.V./News in general, a road that'll prove difficult for us, the audience, to distinguish between the real and the fakeo_O:eek:

That's the scary part. If it gets too realistic, what's to say it isn't used for nefarious purposes like framing someone for a crime they didn't commit? Or we could get a T2 situation.

Ah, who knows?

There is something creepy about digitally recreating a deceased actor in a movie or show. Whether it's their voice or image.
