Well, I was going to keep this under wraps until I was done but I guess I should show it now.

Started out as a little Saturday night project and moved along really well. I think everything is pretty true to Ramiels design, but I did change the gears a little, to a more clock-like version (hope you don't mind ). I have some final sanding to do, as well as a ton of rivets and the back pipes, but it should wrap up pretty quickly.

Really, I'm not trying to hog everything, it just seems like every design Ramiel puts out clicks the "I must have one" switch in my brain.

I actually took a ton of progress photos this time, so if anyone is interested I will post them later.

Please do post. I would be interested to see how you did it. I would love to have tackled this in metal but I just can't make time for myself these days to get around to trying my hand at Ramiel's cool designs.

EDIT:

You know what might make a nice addition to this design. A brass tipped, leather strap riveted to the back (top and bottom) like on an old steamer trunk so that you could have the unit in your palm with the strap across the back of your hand. Would make holding it much easier I think. Not saying it needs it, just making an observation.
