Iron Man Titan Custom Figure Painting Contest

Re: Iron Man Custom Figure Contest

The head is the only piece that pops off, the rest you have to cut off using a exto knife. I actually heated mine up with a heat gun first (or hair dryer works) and then sliced through it with no problem

Re: Iron Man Custom Figure Contest

Do the joints just pop off?

I posted how I disassemble my Titans at the bottom of the first post.

I'm working on a milk version and will explain how I reassemble it when I get to that part.

I don't do the best work but I'm having fun painting these

Dude, that's sweet!!! I'm going to have to do one myself. Actually by the time this is done, I'm probably going towant a whole bunch of these for myself.

(did we start yet?!?)

I have been having a blast re-painting these. I'm working on a Mark V inspired version today.

If you want to do a bunch of these buy them from Wal-mart.com They cost $3 less.

We are waiting on a one person to receive their Titan and then you all can begin.

WOW, that looks awesome

I want to play... Juuuuust thinking of a theme.

You can always go rouge but If I like your entry I have the option to buy it :evil

Been moving all week, so I haven't gotten the chance to start yet. Hopefully soon!

I can't believe you think moving takes precedence over this j/k

Take your time, you all have until the 20th of March

The main reason I'm jumping on things like this, or projects like the Solo Blaster, is to get familair, on any level, with different aspects of painting/weathering builds...

So as far as progress on these entries, if anyone wants to post steps for how they painted, it would be a GREAT help...

for example, Boba Debt, did you use modeling paint like testors... was it out of a spray can? types?

"Go Rouge" means that you buy a Titan and paint it any way you want and then submit it for consideration.

The original contestants were sent a Titan at my expense but had to select one of the versions I listed.

I basically tape and spray my re-paints with quality model paint. I'm not very good so I can not get the level of detail some people can achieve.

I have an extra titan size figure that I been thinking about turning into the Mark 17 Heartbreaker. So I have started, but man is the plastic that these are made from weird to try and carve into!!!! So I going to repair my damage and just add bondo details, instead of carving details into the pre-existing figure.

Here is a pic of my work so far.... and another pic of my current collection sitting on my desk in my classroom.

Ok well I had already bought a Titan prior to receiving mine, so I figured, as far as my projects go, I usually wish I had a do-over anyway so I'm using one for trial and error, and then doing a final one for the contest. Also I had mentioned that I didn't have any existing work to show as proof of skill, that wasn't entirely true. I'm working on a 3.75" scale Hall of Armor, and have been custom painting teeny tiny Hasbro Iron Mans for a few months, which I'm previewing below. Due to the small scale, the Titan feels like undoing your belt after Thanksgiving dinner. Soooo gooood.

Due to this new-found spacious work space, I'm opting not to take mine apart. I may however lock the joints with some superglue to combat rubbing that is messing up the paint job. I started by blacking the Titan out, and have been working on recreating the Steeler's uniform. I'm not thrilled with the sleeves, and might redo them by taping the arm off and painting right through the existing shape instead of flowing the uniform on the contour of the Titan. I'm also working on the getting the right weight for the side trim on the pants. Currently I've got one side about twice as wide as the other, and I think I've decided that a middle size between the two would look better. More to come shortly!

Edit- Sorry for the lighting on the last two, I'm currently sitting in my cab painting the Titan. The other cabbies are making fun of me. Also, that would be a Terrible Towel on the dash ;)
