Iron Man Research & Resources *Suit Available!*

:) This is one of the more fascinating Iron Man costume discussions I've seen anywhere, I wouldn't miss it!

Hm, are there any other sites I should keep an eye out for? To my knowledge I'm the only one assembling this much info for the public, and I'd love to have someone to discuss this with in depth.

I am unfolding these models at my mums, but I am not there so it'll be a while. Crotch is done.

Can I see a picture of the models before I download them? That'd be helpful.

Re: Iron Man Research & Resources

These are at Wal-Mart right now. No need to wait until October.

What? Every place on the net says October, Google brings up nothing but preorders, Barnes and Noble only has the novelizations and eBay has zip.

Has anyone had luck figuring out an approximate scale or ratio for the IM Pepakura files? I'm new to the whole Pepakura thing, so I am probably missing something obvious but all the parts (and the complete model) seem to have a different scale value. The easiest might be scalling the whole suit rather than trying to scale each part... but I want to experiment first and 6000 pages might be a tad ambitious to start. ;-P

Can you "batch scale" a set of files, or is there simply an easier way to go about getting everything match on a relative size basis?

I don't think there is a "batch scaling" option, but you can use the regular scaling options to set a scaling. Take a look at Belacore's unfolded work that he has so far (helmet, top shoulders / neck / back, leg). I am working on his pep files atm and the helmet fits like a glove, er, helmet. :)

When I download and unzip it all I get is empty folders labeled arms, legs, torso etc. Is there something im missing lol?

Weird, I've had no trouble downloading them myself but I've heard of one other person that's had a corrupted download, try downloading this one and see if it works :)

What I did with the files that I unfolded was scale the helmet to the size that I thought would work (27cm, which turned out perfect) and copied the scale number, which is in the box below the size in cm and input that number into each one of the other armor files so they should all be the in proportion.

Just read this on Phil Saunders blog
"Adi Granov and I have been invited to participate in a conference at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on June 22nd, as part of a special exhibit put on by the Costume Institute, "Superheroes: Fantasy & Fiction."

The exhibition is sponsored by Giorgio Armani and features movie costumes and the haute couture that they have inspired. Our Mk3 suit is exhibited under the category of "the Armored Body," along with some outrageous Thierry Mugler chestplates & other biomechanical fashions.

So if you happen to be in NYC, I'd love to see you there. I believe the conference is free to the public. You can find a link HERE."

Anyone in NYC able to get some photos of the Mark III suit? :)
