iron man mark vi build

hey i just started my own irom man bulid and it is my frist bulid so i need luck and prayers lol just the cutting has gone on for ever but i am having fun so far and i know that is one thing that keep everyone going so back to the las two pages of cutting after i get it all cut ill post a pic
 
Having problems forming the eye sockets any advice about how it fits together? The eye folds are so close i can't make out the numbers for how it all goes together. I want to mod it just want to make sure i do it right so there aren't any major gaps. Thanks, love the work you've been doing though really good clean helmet you've been building up.
 
Anyone with some solutions to what i asked can pm me or just reply here whichever works i just need to sort this damn thing out lol. Thanks in advance
 
OK so the eye is kinda tricky with how it is built. I have seen a few builds where the eye is not put in the faceplate during assembly. I think it helped me with my build because it gave me a lace to mount my LEDS when I get to that point. .... to build the eyes you will need to play with how they attach I am including my faceplate with shots of the eyes to help you build yours. The numbers are hard to read and in some cases you can't read them at all. Basically there will be two valleys created from front to back on the bottom of each eye socket and the back of the eye socket will look kind of like a NIKE swoosh. The top will be completely flat. I recommend that you find a corner of the eye to start with and then take your time and play with each fold to see how they all fit before you attach anything permanently. I wish I could explain the eye socket better but it really is the most intense fold of the build I have encountered so far. everything else is easy but that little area teases you til you flip it off a few times. I had to rebuild my eye socket twice before I got it right. Oh ... if you think you have it figured out try to match up the numbers with those of the lower brim of the top half of the face plate and the bottom rounded part of the lower portion of the faceplate. The build uses the eye sockets to attach the upper and lower half of the faceplate together. I hope this helps.

I appreciate the advice on this matter bro, the folds sure are tricky and omg they are frustrating. I just keep staring at them like they will figure themselves out because i am definintely stuck lol. I did manage to figure the first part of the eye that is attached to the bottom part of the faceplate so hopefully what i will do is just attach the rest of the faceplate and then build the eye up from the inside maybe that will help me see how it fits as well. Anyways i too need to put up some progress pics just to get a thread started on here. I will soon i really want to finish my mannequin as well. I do what I can. Others have been helpful to me and I try to pass that along. the rest of the build as far as pep goes is pretty straight forward though. look forward to process pics from you
 
When I am working on a tricky area I open the pep viewer, right click on the 2d page, select 'check corresponding face', and select each piece and look at the 3d page to see how it fits after it is put together. That has helped me in some pretty tricky builds where the numbers get all messed up. When you are dealing with cuts that small you cant rely on the numbers. Hope that helps.

I've done that countless times.

Before printing I also change the line styles for the mountain and valley folds since they look so similar to me

I keep mountain folds as long dashes, but change valley folds to very very short dashes. Makes it easier to keep track on tricky pieces
 
saber, darkside and aron Thanks for the advice guys i appreciate it, I've been procrastinating this week on the build but i will get back to basics this weekend it definitely helps to know what i can do to figure out these parts that seemed impossible to get right. I will get this helmet done and post pics to get some feedback. Thanks again you guys
 
Well my wallet has suffered from a catastrophic financial disaster ... lol ... still set back from being able to purchase materials unfortunately. But I am still here and the desire to finish this armor is as strong as the day I started this project. I know it can be hard to continue for people when they have to slowdown or stop a project for a while but i feel a few daily reminders to oneself keeps the dream and the fire alive. still read posts every few days to watch other projects and love what I see all the time. To all the builders out there, ___ keep up the great work!!!___
 
i know where you are coming from....I hit a bad patch during my stormtrooper build. Although it did teach me to think outside of the box and look at different avenues for materials etc, lack of funds is a bummer....

...hope you manage to get back on track soon
 
yeah I am gonna jump on more hinge design this next week hopefully and make some progress on that front while waiting for money for material. If all goes well I will be able to state some progress lol
 
I am 5' 9" tall and my helmet is the default size from robo's files I did not change anything on that at all
 
OK so small update here. I had some free time and decided to repep the back piece again. finally got it close enough to something I could be happy to work with. had to mod it a little right around the shoulder area due to a bump in the pep for whatever reason. Also pepped the brace piece and that went together smoothly. created some tabs on the supports for that so that it would stay that way til I applied resin to it.
