iron man mark vi build

LMAO
Congratulations on the baby. Hope it all goes well.

Looking forward to seeing your finished helmet as you seem to have the same outlook as me. 'I just want to spend all day doing it' :p

Just applied half a second coat of Resin, it gets harder after the first coat in my opinion since you cannot see where you have applied it at all.

Although, I'm getting lucky in that I am getting half a coat applied every day so fingers crossed I'll be applying the Fibreglass on Friday (Now that I am dreading since the inside is a little harder to get to than the outside and I'm pondering whether I should cut the eyes out before hand haha)

your telling me ... those eyes do not look fun to fiberglass ... my pla is to resin coat the outside then cut out the eyes and fiberglass the inside to help with stability and then easier to clean out the eye sockets afterward with a dremel ... I am thinking I will wait til i have all of the parts pepped before I resin anything and do eah stage all at once and keep consistency to my method fora uniform look at each level of the build ...

thanks by the way ... y baby girl is due on my birthday in a couple of months ... she was my favorite creation so far and no pepping involved ... lol

I should hope you didn't have to Pep her. Although, that sounds like a naughty sound anyway, sounds like you pepped all night long :p

Yeah, Think I'm going to cut out the eyes after 3 layers so that way I know I can get rid of them while the Helmet is still slightly soft! I'm just building a Helmet so far to see if my filler/sanding skills are any good. Never done anything like this before and would rather make a Brilliant helmet then build the rest piece by piece. Otherwise I could end up Pepping a whole suit and then finding out I suck at doing it all! And that would cost me a LOT of money I don't have.

pepped her perfect lol ... I have spent something like 12 dollars so far and have almost all of the upper body done or at least printed ... left forearm and abs left to complete upper body pepping finished the left fingers about 20 minutes ago cutting out the forearm and will pep that tomorrow night most likely ... I've got like five more helmets I want to pep after this and a couple of weapons just for the fun of it ... I figure I should not be bored for about the next three years lol ... I keep getting ahead of myself

Good thing not to be bored. Maybe you should learn to Pep some Diapers:p

PEP's can be real fun but a long time consuming thing! Took me 3 days to do my helmet and 3 tubes of superglue!

ok so your using superglue ... I have been using elmers glue all ... I thought i recently read that it may cause issues during the resin process but I cant do anything about it now so I will continue with it and it seems to be holding well I even tested a piece with a wet sponge to see if it would come apart and it seemed to hold

The thing I've found out that if the resin hold first time there isnt much to worry about. I've done 2 layers of Resin right now and it is holding great. Good thing since I used some cellotape on the inside when i started now it is resined up and holding I should be able to take it out before doing my fibreglass.

first coat of resin should always be a light coat, never go heavy on the first one, once that sets then you can load it up on the next coat, you want to make sure that the outside of the pep is nice and stiff so that when you harden the inside it will hold its shape

I also use elmers craft glue and have never had an issue with it during the resining process, dont sweat it saber it will turn out fine:rolleyes

sweet mother of god ... one of the greats has come down from the heavens and was caught reading my post ... lol ... thanks for the go ahead kagn ... I am real glad to hear that the elmers glue will hold up to the resin process ... I thought i had read somewhere that the glue wil give and cause the part to warp ... but most definitly I planned to go with a light coat first then a two thicker coats for stiffness ... "ha ha ha - he said stiffness!" ... the clouds sorta part when those that have treaded there before lend a helping voice to the rest of us ... someday I will be "The Legend" lol

Together Saber we shall be Legends :p
In my opinion, Kagn is one of the few original legends around along with TMP. Alot of them have made their suits and now they are too busy wearing them :p That and people like Robo have decided to hang up their boots :p

But yeah, I'm seriously looking forward to seeing your Resin job :p I've just finished my last coat of resin, time for fibreglass.(Crapping myself now :p)

PS: I think I like the :p smiley a little too much :S

Better believe it ... 5000 man hours and 30 completed projects later we shall be the stuff legends are compared to ... It will happen when people like kagn and tmp and robo and others have to ask us for advice ... but the crown will be when we get to guest spot on "on the laam" with laamberry and the mattmunson ... thats when you have hit fame and piles of debt from all the projects ... lol ... bring on the debt ...

LMAO, dude, they don't put semi-good singers like me on a show with someone as gorgeous as Laamberry! :p And that means NEVER! haha. I'd love to I'm sure. Although, I'm now contemplating making a Captain America mask as well for the new movie. DOH!

Would be nice to have people like that ask me for advice. Although, weirdly enough, someone messaged me mid week for my advice. I was just completely shocked as well.

Hows your project anyways?

mine is going good ... I am finishing the pep of the left forearm which will leave just the abs and i will have pepped the entire upper body ... I had someone pm me for advice as well this week ... felt kinda motivational to be the guy that can help instead of needing the help ... by the way as soon as I can get a pic of the material i will post it so you can see what kind i am going with for the lining ... Me ... I wanna win the t shirt ... watch the video and you will see ... gotta work today though so talk to ya later

Talk later buddy!
I'll be watching it in a minute lmao

Although, just went to see one of my friends at the garage he works at and he saw my helmet and really wants one for his motorcycle. Just between his handlebars looking at oncoming traffic. Either that or a Predator helmet or a Terminator head. But would love to see how cool Ironman looks on it :p

i like that idea ... put a bust of iron man on the front and have light up eyes would be sweet ... I almost finished the left forearm pep last night trying to finish the last part so I can move onto the abs ...

He has said he will teach me to drive if I make it for him (Learning to drive in the UK in really expensive).

Dude, get some pictures up of you in the whole thing so far. Get the missus to take a pic for you :p. Although, didn't you say she doesn't approve of this build :p

I am gonna finish the abs then I will take some pics of the finished work so far ... I am curious as to how it will fit on me anyway ... I am starting the abs now so I should have them cut out and and scored tonight
