Iron Man Mark IV Foam COMPLETED! STAN LEE SIGNED =D - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

Re: My first costume build - Iron Man Mark IV Foam - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

UPDATE!!

Thx to stealth and jordan's recommendation for this 45degree blade cutter, makes everything line up perfectly.

Had to redo my chest piece since it seemed too small to me and made a larger one using Stealth's new foam templates as well as some pieces from glentech's foam templates.. ironically it seems like i made it a lil too big, this size is the standard scale, maybe 5% smaller would be better =\

also made a new rim mount for the arc reactor, still waiting for a replacement from the seller.

look at that clean 45 degree angle done by the mat cutter =D

just mounting it with tape for now, so i can paint the rim separately from the chest.

Re: My first costume build - Iron Man Mark IV Foam - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

My chest piece has lots of room in the chest piece. My idea was to run the cables down the back of my neck, around my ribs and into the chest piece. That is as far as I've thought it through. No idea how to execute it yet.

I don't think removing the helmet will be possible. Unless someone makes a quick release disconnect for brake cables (or you could design one:confused).

Re: My first costume build - Iron Man Mark IV Foam - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

Thanks John especially with all the help with your wonderful hinges, even though the hinges still need work to work on my helmet i think my solution on mounting the servo's inside the helmet may work

just still need to figure out how to mount them securely to the helmet and temporarly at first for tests on proper placement.

also a update i have finished the back piece and i just realized i think the stock scale for the back and front piece is a lil too big for me so i dunno, and im still trying to figure out how i should mount the collar piece and the back and chest piece all together as well as easily be able to be put on.

Re: My first costume build - Iron Man Mark IV Foam - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

Everything looks amazing so far! I love the arc reactor, looks pretty accurate.

Re: My first costume build - Iron Man Mark IV Foam - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

did my first test fit and added magnets to the shoulder pieces and magnets on the sides of the chest connections to the back piece, realized that i need to use velcro on the sides if i want it to securely fit over the side ab pieces without it falling apart, also i need to added another layer to the side ab pieces.

a issue im having is if i should remove the added shoulder support for the bicep to help allow more arm movement so i can touch the top of my head.

also need to work on the ab piece mechanics

also need to figure out a way for me to use the restroom, in case i drink too much lol

Re: My first costume build - Iron Man Mark IV Foam - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

Good fit man. I'm picky with proportions so you get my props for that.

Re: My first costume build - Iron Man Mark IV Foam - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

thx alot, i was lucky to get my scale pretty good but the chest and back piece i will have to redo after halloween and do it at 5% smaller scale to have it be right, so many mix scales on my build, are you just gonna leave the ab pieces on your foam build just one piece? because sitting down and crunching is the reason why im trying to do this but on the mark iv style ab's from Fetts build

Re: My first costume build - Iron Man Mark IV Foam - WARNING PICTURE INTENSIVE!

thanks you guys.. i had a lot of fun making this suit and taking it around.. so here is the updates..

Had to change out the resistors on the faulty arc reactor before I installed it into the suit... had bad issues with the seller for sending me 2 faulty units

Seriously there is a lot more paint i used... i need to count them all so i can give a idea of how much i used

This is how i paid for my labor each day haha
23.jpg

Using the Hot Toys model as a reference that ironically i just bought after finishing the suit lol, i also realized DON'T PAINT THE GOLD ON THE THIGH PIECE FIRST.. PAINT IT RED then add the gold.. the color changes since it becomes a gold base underneath =\

taping off the sides to paint the gold biceps
17.jpg

Finished up the boots
18.jpg

Dremeled out a trashcan for the ab pieces and riveted them to 2" elastic bands, so now i can sit and crunch comfortably
19.jpg

Made pockets for my wallet and cell phone.. and yes that is my 7" cell phone haha
