Iron Man Mark IV Build - UPDATED Progress Report *Pic Intensive*

just cut off the over hang, untill everything has a nice fit, no biggy there, but did you scale these parts up from the stock scale as they look a little oversized all together

have you tried to binder clip the sides together and see how it looks that way? Remember, the back and chest can't be tight against your body. There needs to be room for the ab plates to go underneath. If you think you messed up, don't do anything with the chest and back until you finish the abs.

Looks great so far! Love the Dummy! I need to build one.

Hey there,
Thanks for the tip, I kind of figured I could trim off the excess but was a little worried that it would throw everything else out of balance.
It was scaled slightly but it's the same scale as the chest piece which seems to fit fine...maybe not.
The scale I used was 28.578172, not sure why the back is so large??

Maybe it's the helmet that's throwing everything off- I have a pretty big head so it kinda looks cartoonish ;) Does the chest piece look oversized in your opinion as well?

Question- should i resin these pieces while they are mounted on Buster? I would imagine I would get the best fit that way....

Another Question- should I mount the chest and back to the brace once I get the details worked out? Or do they stay separate?

Anyway, I taped the pieces in place to get an idea of how much I will have to take off for a good fit- it doesn't look too bad now that this is done, have a look:

Yeah...binder clipped it was WAYYYY too big, even leaving room for the ab plates.

I'll take your advice and hold off on doing anything else with this until the abs are complete, thank you!

And thanks for the compliment- "Buster" was inspired from another member and works great ;)

I have to say, that the back piece is the hardest piece to keep symetrical. If you can use the supports or make your own, you sould do it. If it's on buster you wouldn't be able to see if both sides are the same.

I kept mine seperate. If both are Fiberglassed, the friction they make holds just fine. And after you attach the back...you might aswell be in a straight jacket. Check out how I connected my chest/back/brace on robo's tread in page 76 here:

Hey there,

I would resin them while they are on buster, because this way you can make sure that the pieces are contured to fit your body, just make sure you have them set and secured the way you like them on buster, then resin them, go with 3 coats of resin, first coat a light one then once it has cured do a heavier 2nd and 3 coat, letting each coat cure before the next is applyed, then it should hold the shape you had it on buster well, next step is to resin and cloth the inside of each part, then while it is curing place them back on buster to maintain the shape, while supports work well in maintaining shape , it might not be the shape you like the look of on buster and you , so if you have a duct tape dummy or a life cast it is better to use that, because if the parts are fitted to that and look good then they will look the same on you, but it comes down to doing whatever you feel most comfortable with
