Iron Man Mark 7 build - first attempt at papercraft ** ARC reactor files added!

Almost finished the paperwork :D

Progress looks great! It's good to see somebody else who builds in paper, I was thinking we were a dying breed :lol

Thanks! Do you have any idea how much fiberglass cloth do I need the finish my suit? I'd like to buy it next week, but don't want to buy too much.

BTW I think paper is better than foam because paper-armors are more durable, and detailed.

Agreed!
What size can you get your cloth in? I'd plan on 8-9 square meters for a layer (including overlap). When in doubt, buy extra, it'll get used eventually :)

Here in Hungary I can buy cloth in big rolls (1.25 m wide, this can't be modified). I can tell the seller only that how long roll do I need. So the minimum is 1.25 square meters. I can multiply this, so if I buy 5 meters, I'll get 6.25 square meters. Maybe the best would be a 10 m long roll, that has to enough.

I wish I would have kept better track of my total usage to give you a better estimate. :( I would buy 10 meters worth to be safe, but I use fiberglass on everything.

Ok, than I'll buy 10 meters. I have some other projects, e.g. a stormtrooper and an Iron Patriot, that I'd like to begin this summer.

Here's a circuit diagram for Iron Man's voice modulator. Haven't tested yet, but looks like it'll work fine. Lot of options with pushbuttons.

Hi, my name is David, and (as I know) I am the first Hungarian guy who tries to build an Iron Man suit.

I use DarkSide's Pepakura files (thanks so much, they are awesome) and use 200g paper. As I'm an engineering student, I have some great ideas for the suit's mechanical parts.

I'll use Texas Instruments' MSP430 microcontroller to control servos, LED-s and other circuits.
I'll have circuits in the hip pods that symbolizes Iron Man's heat seeking countermeasure system, a TDA2030A amplifier connected to a WTV020 woice module and two 15 Watts speakers. The ARC reactor will have some light effect, and I'll put servos in the shins (flaps), tha lower forearm (missiles and in the back (flaps) and the faceplate.

I have started to design an exoskeleton strapping system same as James (from Xrobots.co.uk - I like Jason's work, he is so good) but with little modifications.

That's all for now, here's some pictures of the progress, see more at my Facebook page. (Unfortunatelly it's in Hungarian, but there are a lot of photos to see the progress)

Hi! I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to let you know that I'm printing your arc reactor right now and it looks great!!
Many thanks for the files!! :D

This is totally awesome that you shared this! Where/how did you mount the batteries?
