Iron Man Mark 42 Foam

Hey Members of the RPF. I will start my new project, the Mark 42 from the third Iron Man movie out of foam. I use Plastazote LD 45 foam with a thickness of 5 mm and 10 mm. After I completed the building stage I will cover everything with 3-4 coats of pva glue and some Plastidip. It is my second project after I finished my Mark VI and sell it. Now it´s going to be winter here in Germany so now it´s building time. I am very motivated for this build and I hope I will finish the suit till january 2014. I hope you all enjoy my build and you have fun to look what I am going to do in the near future.

Hey,

I'm doing the exact same build. Gonna follow yours! I'm interested how other people go about building this suit. And i verry much like to see how you paint as i got no experience in painting foam yet!

Yeah painting foam is not that easy. You really need the right paint because otherwise it will crack and thats what I really dont want

No, I don't have a thread yet. I'm finished with chest, back, biceps, forearms, gloves and abs (finishing abs up tonight). I'm a bit scared to make a thread and how people will react. I might post something tonight .

Why you are scared ? It´s great to get tips and informations how you can do things better and the best part is when you get positive comments about your work it´s so motivating. Do it man !! Maybe you can send me a pic of what you´ve done till now

hehe thanks buddy, i'm flattered i'm sure your build will be a blast, just don't rush the thing and stay as close to proportion, that is how i usually build mine. .

The Iron Patriot I think is an great suit, I love the colours and this serious look of the eyes from the helmet. I really look like a war machine The Mark 42 is much more filled with tech and you can really see that on the design. I prefer the Marl 42 the champagner colour and the red is so great and hopefully I get it done nicely.

Small Progress I´ve cut out all the templates for the Chest the Back and the ABS Monday the foam arrives than I will start building.
