Iron Man Mark 38 "Igor" WIP

This is interesting.

I'd model the suit for Pep, if I had detailed photos... guess I'll have to wait for the Movie to come out on Blu-ray.

OMG, that's pure genius.
Curved screen may distort the image. should it be better to have flat screen?
I don't think the projector have calibration for curved screen?

Loving this build! It's like a hybrid of iron man and a terminator from the Warhammer 40K universe.

Great job so far!

I wondered about this. Do you know what would happen if I used a fisheye lens?
What camera do you use?
Normally a standard camera do not have fish eye lens.
At most they are 28mm IIRC. Webcam for example should be considered as "standard" that you will use.
Say you use a fish eye or wide angle lens, and projected in flat screen, you might have a distorted circular edge.
A fish eye lens will give you headache pretty fast.
As your brain need to adjust the distance, with adding distortion, for sure i will have disorientation (motion sickness) very fast.

I have several small fish eye lens and was wondering if I attached that to a webcam that would give me a great FOV. Having just tried on the helmet and the torso ( couldn't figure a way of photographing myself) I think I need as much FOV as possible just so I don't fall over.

I've watched a few of the "Third Person Camera" experiments on youtube and people seem to adapt fairly quickly. Once I've built the neck, and attached the projector I'll play around with lens and report back.

well the fish eye lense would work if it was a concave screen, best bet is use a normal camera and add a horizontal convex lense, then adjust the screen so it seems perfect

this might helps you with your build:
