Iron Man Mark 38 "Igor" WIP

Just had a play around with the positioning of the and a couple of things have become very clear already:

XenXen is right - I'll need to use my elbows as 'shoulders' which means that if I want to control the hands it'll get complicated. My head it too far back to do anything else.

I think im going to make the suit in pieces that fit together with magnets, though nothing as clever as XRobot's system. This ought to make it easier to assemble and be build since I won't have huge free standing pieces.

may get quite complicated but google 'mechanical hand extensions'

might not give a great deal of control but your basic look and actions will be there

I've started the bottom half of the torso. It velcros to the top half along the split lines. Hopefully this will make it easier to put on. Magnets were way too complicated.

I've also started the back, based on what I can see and some guesswork but there is quite a bit of space that I'm going to have to use artistic licence.

Also, this suit was absolutely not made for wearing by a human being.

I'd say itd be wise to wait 22 days till the movie is released in europe then just download the free app game that has a suit showcase in it. That way you'll know how it's meant to look and fit properly.

Possibly and focus on the bits I can see. lets look at that helmet..

Great work so far! The only thing is, and this might not be avoidable, is that it looks like your scale is a bit too small, based on the superimposed images. You can probably check this on your original image to be sure, but it looks like the knees and waist don't line up on the two suits.

I'm presuming that this Mark is actually probably closer to the Iron Monger in size, but if you're using the basic suit as a guide for the costume, the shoulders look like they should actually still be higher than where you have them superimposed now?

Either way, this looks like it will be an awesome build, and I very much look forward to seeing a completed suit!

EDIT: Actually looking at the pic again, looks like they're not standing in the same position, either. Correcting for that may actually fix the knee, hip, and waist discrepencies...

Re the scale, I'm not sure how big the suit is but there are practical limits to what I can keep in the house. Having looked at this still from the trailer:

It seems that the suit doesn't dwarf the barrels which if they are standard American size are 34.5 inches tall so two of them on top would be around 5.75 ft - consistent more or less with the images released and the suit that is designed to be stooped.

I think its about right but in any case I'll need to make adjustments to accomodate a 6ft person who doesn't want a permanent back injury.

Edit: this gives you a sense of the size of it:

Yea it's a large suit for sure, but it doesn't appear to be THAT massive. The oil barrels in the scene appear to be at least Knee height. One thing to consider is how tall the suit should be if it wasn't as hunched over either. I would feel comfortable saying that it is slightly taller then the shipping container, but no larger then that

Well just for reference: A shipping container is about 8-9.5 feet tall. Judging from the screengrab, the Mk 38 seems to be maybe a little taller than the container but however the suit's knees are bent. So at a full height with legs fully stretched out, im guessing the actual size of the suit might be around 10-11 feet tall. Just a little reference for ya :) But yours is looking awesome! Cant wait to see more!

this is gonna be spectacularly... huge!
def keeping an eye on this one, great start so far!
