Hey guys, this is my first build thread. I'm going with the Hammerhead suit(mark 37) from Iron Man 3. I'm using PepCowboy's foam files for this suit, it's a fun build so far. I plan on finishing in time for Steel City Con in Pittsburgh in April. I've got the helmet, upper and lower torso basically completed. Feel free to critique, assist and comment. Thanks for checking it out, i'll try to update frequently. photo 3.JPGphoto 4.JPGphoto%205.JPGphoto%201.JPG

Looks great! I don't know why that suit isn't more popular with the CosPlay Crowd.

Being an adopted Yinzer I'm wondering if Steel City Con is worth going to. Thus far the convention scene in PGH leaves something to be desired.

Very nice!

The cool thing about a mk 37 build is you off the hook when it comes to making Iron Man gloves! Hammerhead doesn't use them!!!

looks like its made out of foam????

yep its anti fatigue foam from SEARS, this suit is HUGE so i'm going through alot of foam, doesn't help that i'm 6'4"

i know what ya mean, i like steel city con since its where i get all my vintage Star Wars toys for good prices, i like that they started doing costume contests for the toy conventions as well as the main comic con.

going to be cutting out the foam for the legs tonight and tomorrow and hopefully get them constructed this weekend, pictures to come.

have you rescaled this at all?
I was thinking of this being my first full build but if it's gonna fit you at 6'4" then with me being 5'10" I haven't got much chance of fitting properly!
also do you know how big the waist is? i'm a tubby funster as well as being short!
:lol

yup i rescaled it, what i do is find out how big the default scale measurement for the waist is,since thats the most narrow part then i just scale the rest of the suit to match that.so it'll make it scaled properly without looking like he's got a big gut. my waist is around 40" so my suit is pretty snug to my waist so it's not super huge and cumbersome, i love the look of this suit and its got plenty of room for extra stuff(fans, electronics, etc.)

Bugger. my waist is a bit larger than yours, my philosophy is no one wants to see a fat ironman waddling around, best up the fitness regime and drop the excess while building, will give me a good target i suppose!
Thanks for the info.

Nah dude just go for it,it's the deep sea suit,it's big and bulky like us,we'll be iron men that nobody would dare insult about weight or stature lol

nice work, i've been doing a bit of research today and can't say I'm in love with the colour scheme from the film and the game, have you had any thoughts on it at all?

I've got no beef with the color scheme simply because there are so many different armors that something unconventional like the greenish color of this suit doesn't really turn me away from it. I like doing something abit out of the box and plus this suit is perfect for a big guy like me.

going to be doing some more work on the upper torso tomorrow night but I was playing around with my helmet tonight, doing a bit of sanding and color testing. More updates soonimage.jpg
