Iron Man 3 (Post-release)

To the people saying that IM2 was the worst film, can you articulate why exactly? I find it weaker than IM1, sure, but it is by no stretch a bad movie.

Just my 2 cents - it's not a BAD movie, that would be the likes of Ghost Rider. But compared to the rest of the Marvel films, it's noticeably the weakest. Action scenes were few and mediocre, the final battle was anti-climatic as hell, the villains weren't memorable, RDJ's supporting cast was just plain annoying, and the plot wasn't anything outstanding. The movie's main purpose seems to be a serving as a giant collection of easter eggs for Avengers, and aside from RDJ's charm and wit, in all other respects it just trudged along in mediocrity.

They played CHRISTMAS MUSIC !!.....wtf...its May and and I'm
watching a xmas movie w/ no AC/DC

OMG! This was my pet peeve the 3 times I watched it. And I nor anyone else mentioned it! Major mind blackout! Haha. Its as though it was a niggle then escaped my mind as I left! It just didnt feel right!
This is my number 1 niggle now! Haha.
Its weird that I feel soothed by remembering this. Is that weird?
Of all the movies I watch through the year. NONE have xmas themes. Those are xmas films that I only watch in December. Ahhh thats gonna annoy me on the blu ray!

They played Christmas music, and showed snow in many of the scenes, because it was set in 2012, not present day. RDJ mentions the date somewhere.

Remember the entire film is a "flashback" retelling from RDJ in the chair with Banner (end of credit Easter egg).

LOVED Banner's line: "I'm not that kind of doctor. I don't have the temperament for it." :D

I was disappointed in how they handled Mandarin. And they never really explained the whole heat superpower thing except that it was vaguely something to do with the gene therapy drug.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but I think it missed out on a lot of potential. Definitely the weakest of the three.

I thought this film was OK. Nothing great (like I thought it was gonna be) and nothing horrible. I don't follow the comics but have become a huge iron man fan after the first movie.

Anyways, the Mandarin twist was pretty cool IMO. This movie had a lot of comedy (maybe a tad too much?). It didn't feel like an iron man type movie to me. The biggest disappointment was the suits. They NEVER tell us what each suit does, never even gave any good visuals of them (with exception to maybe 3). The minor visuals we did get were very dark. Where was War machine Mark 2? Where was the scene where tony goes to deep space in the Gemini suit?

Clean slate protocol? He realizes that there are grave and imminent threat and even says so but he destroys every suit? Come on! He undergoes surgery to remove his arc and remove the chrapnal. OK cool. But it seems to me like they sealed up the series. No more iron man. Yes it says tony stark stark will return but idk.

And just for everyone's record at the end he says, " there's one thing they can't take away, I am ironman". Not " I am still ironman". Big difference!

My money?

I hope not. Tony's not even qualified to lead the Avengers, let alone S.H.I.E.L.D.

Plus there's that whole Tony being the "bad guy" of Civil War to get that job in the comics, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Well, I'm back from the theater. Finally got to see it tonight. Felt like an eternity after everyone considering this movie came out overseas a while ago. Well, let me start by saying this: I love Iron Man. The first Iron Man movie is my most favorite movie of ALL TIME. More so than my beloved classics like Terminator 2, BTTF, Predator or Aliens. I always defended the Iron Man franchise and even IM2. People like to criticize that movie, but I love Iron Man 2... I truly think it's a great movie.

With all that being said, I hated Iron Man 3. HATED IT. From the very start I felt like it was garbage. I feel this movie is almost a bad joke. I was sitting there, thinking it couldn't be actually happening. Seriously, I'm so fresh out of the movie and so disappointed I don't even know where to start. Was there even a point in this movie? At all? What was the purpose of this movie, can someone tell me? I felt like it only exists as and excuse to show off a bunch of useless suits.
  • I mean, the Mandarin fiasco. - Absolutely ridiculous.
  • That whole thing with that stupid kid (funny but went on for way to long. It was ultimately, completely unnecessary).
  • The lack or Iron Man action scenes. Even the plane rescue sucked. It's hard to feel anything towards it when you find out Tony wasn't even in the suit.
  • The sheer stupidity that was EVERYTHING related to the Iron Patriot (never even fired a single damn shot, not ONCE!). Why is he even in the movie. What kind of piece of crap armor is that, that anybody can put it on without any safety protocols. How can it get deactivated so quickly and easily by a "hand shake".
  • The fact that there was very little Iron Man in the movie. He wasn't even inside the armor half the time. They just completely erased the whole purpose of him being Iron Man. Why would he wear an armor and be in combat in person if he can just control a whole army while sitting on the couch?
  • How can he be Iron Man, without an Arc Reactor? Why would they even do that? That was one of the worst parts for me.
  • Oh, and Tony going solo, without any armor or real tech to take out the Mandarin. Armed with makeshift weapons? Guns? I'm sorry, but that made NO sense. He couldn't go home and get a suit first? He couldn't contact anyone? Going in, alone, guns blazing was the best plan (after he said to Steve Rogers "We are NOT soldiers!")?

I could go on but I don't even want to talk about it anymore. I just feel cheated. I wouldn't care if the movie was bad. I could at least say the overall, the trilogy was good but as it is now, this movie is such garbage that it even kills the idea of this being a good trilogy.

Well, that is it. This movie even killed my enthusiasm towards CA2, Thor 2 and Avengers 2.

I liked it however the whole Mandarin thing bothered me. I was expecting a really dark, ruthless villain. But overall I enjoyed it.

DFanatic: At one point in the comics Tony had the procedure to remove his shrapnel to also remove his reactor. He can still be IM, look at War Machine/Iron Patriot, no reactor.

I enjoyed it a lot but probably not as much as the first two films as I didn't really like the story as much as the first two. This film is much more of an action movie and the overall feel is very different from the first two. There was a lot more suspension of disbelief and it was less tangible to me. I thought this movie was much more about cramming in as many visual effects as possible and it seemed very busy to me at times. The first film is still the best by far and I'd rank this one behind number two- but just barely.

Alot of the suits were missing in this film which leads me to believe it was all a merchandising stunt. He was in the updated Mark 7 at the beginning of the movie? The one that wraps around him. Was this the same one Pepper destroys at the end? Then straight to the Mark 42. We got to see a GLIMPSE of a few suits. Tony dawns the Silver Centurion armor when he attempts to lift the rubble off Pepper? We saw the Heartbreaker suit for a total of maybe 10 seconds in the movie as well as the Shotgun suit and some other suit that Tony dawns when hes fighting Killian. We dont even know what suit it is because THEY NEVER EVEN TOLD US ABOUT HIS SUITS! Saw the Red Snapper get its face ripped of and blown up. Saw the Aquatic armor for a split second. Saw the gemini suit for a split second as well. Even saw the Skeleton suit do its thing for a second. We also saw the Heavy Construction suit and of course we saw Igor for a sec. I think thats about it.

WE SAW LOTS OF:
Mark 42
Iron Patriot

WE SAW A GLIMPSE OF: And I mean a glipse
Mark 7?
Deep Sea Suit (Mark XXXVII) - Known as Hammerhead
Sub-Orbital Suit (Mark XXXIX) - known as Gemini
Silver Centurion Suit (Mark XXXIII)
Heavy Lifting Suit (Mark XXXVIII) - known as Igor
Heavy Construction Suit (Mark XXV) – Known as Striker
High-Velocity (Mark XL) – Known as Shotgun
Disaster-Rescue Suit (Mark XXXV) – Known as Red Snapper
Artillery-Level RT Suit (Mark XII) – Known as Heartbreaker
Skeleton Suit (Mark XLI) – Known as Bones
Some red suit with fins on the shoulders when Tony is fighting Killian

WE DIDNT SEE:
Stealth Suit (Mark XV) – Known as Sneaky (maybe it was too stealthy?)
Black Stealth Suit (Mark XVI)
Asgardian Destroyer Suit
God Killer Suit
War Machine Mark 2
And several other suits

So we saw 12 out of the 35 new suits (if you count Iron Patriot). What happened to the other 23? What did they do? What did they look like?

Just got back. Didn't really like it. The extremis dude were just WAY too strong. HE GOT RID OF HIS ARCH?!?!? I was really digging the Manderin and then they do that?!?!?! Too much to list. Just didn't like it.

You guys that are getting hung up on the arc... You're forgetting that the arc doesn't power the suits anymore. It's only purpose was to keep the shrapnel out of his heart. He had the shrapnel removed, so he doesn't need the arc anymore. It was the final aspect of his "clean slate".

Saw it today, expected more, it was awesome, but its hard to forget the old war machine ;)

On that part im with you, when they revealed that :(

I would kill to see Civil War adapted to movies, but it won't happen for a long time if ever.

I doubt it would happen, at least as presented in the comics. Iron Man's the most popular of the film universe heroes, they wouldn't make him the "bad guy" and upset the general movie audiences. Being pro-reg also wouldn't be consistent with his attitude towards the government in IM2.

It's been discussed ad nauseam, but the reason Civil War won't happen is all the properties Marvel doesn't have the rights to.

WE DIDNT SEE:
Asgardian Destroyer Suit
God Killer Suit
War Machine Mark 2

You realize that both the Iron Destroyer and "Godkiller" are from the comics, right? And that "Godkiller" is the name of the plot arc and not the name of the current comics space suit, right?

I see you keep spewing out this false information you have everywhere, and to people like me who enjoy facts and citing their sources, it's getting pretty annoying.
