Iron man 3 Mk39 Gemini sub orbital suit <pep files are done> WIP

Hey buddy, just wanna point out that the files for the chest that uve done is slightly in accurate. Especially the front part. Syrus's file are more accurate. I had to combine IM2M and Syrus files to get an accurate chest

Thanks for the comments!

My files was actually based on "the book of armors".
And since it was intended for foam build, some of the details were adjusted/deleted.
I even included the speed build suggestions.
I respect Syrus's model, I helped him do the unfold too.
He got more details on the chest, as more pics reference became available.

I did picture comparisons with my design and the toy that came later on so you can see the difference.

So you combined both of them to get all the good parts, nice.......

Spend another hour and a half to complete the chest.
Up to this point, I think my hybrid-speed build cardboard/foam method works out pretty good.

Please note that I put the left arm at the right side. I got plenty of stuff surrounding the mannequin and I can't get into the right side.
The oversided unfinished jetpack were just placed to make it look good :D.
Will make a new one.

The five holes cluster were but just using paper puncher. However, it'll have a gap by using scrap foam to imitate "depth".
the black foam "cap" will be added after painting

Made left boot, a bit too small, but still wearable.
I made cardboard flaps to enhanced the torso structure.
I used up all my superglue.

It doesn't look like much progress, but I spent about three hours completing the bicep, forearm and shoulder.
Foam parts has been added, structure were strengthen by adding cardboard flaps.
Shoulder is not finished. It need to be curved by force, otherwise it'll look very flat/wide.
Still thinking about a way to make it more curved.

Not pleased with the boot, so I scrap this one and make it a new pair in the future.

Torso now can stand on it's own, or hanging in the dummy without breaking apart.
I glued the shoulder and left side.

I am not aware if Balmung already release Mk39 helmet?

As for hexagons, the cheapest method that I can think of is using paper.
Print the hex, manually cut it and glue it one by one.
Once it get resin-ed, it'll be very solid.

Another alternative is using vinyl film (sticker), still cut and paste manually.
I think that's how I am gonna do.

I saw carbon-fiber film, available in black, dark grey, white and gold. Very tempted to use it. It'll safe me from paint job.

I made some progress on the suit.
I created "ribs" to enhance the structure of the shoulder and handplate, and a light box for the arc.
For precision, the ribs and the box was made with pepakura.
Unfortunately, the scale was off during conversion, so it is trial and error to determine the correct scale.
It took me the whole day, just to make this "small" progress.

Ribbing is very good, the shoulder now is very solid, even without resin.
I used the handplate that I drew earlier. It looks more streamline with the forearm, rather than using Mk42 handplate.
It's a personal choice anyway.

It's a ripped file from the iOS game that was ported to Pepakura. Very minimal, but I like that it adds some artistry to the sculpting.

Thank you, BSD.
After unfolding your Igor's helmet, I was temped to make that.

But I need to stay focus.....
Neck is added.
At first I tought I am going to make it from foam.
After it was done, the foam didn't look nice, it didn't give sharp edges.
So I made the second one from cardboard, enhanced by foam. It turn out great!
Each section has not been connected. I am planning to use black lycra, or elastic band.
The opening will be secured by small quick-connect or magnets.

I really hate the idea that I have to make the jetpack again.
So next step is either jetpack or abs.

Thank you GM,

This is a very good example of "hybrid", combining paper and foam.
the light grey is actually raised 2mm from the dark grey.
Two hexagons port in the middle was placed at an angle at 10mm at the end, guarded with foam at sides
The white triangle was decreased by 2mm.

The raised and decreased area were much faster using hybrid method rather than making it in full paper pep.
Hope this would be inspirational.

Sorry for blurry picture.

Abs took longer than I expected. It took me around 3-4hours up to this point.
I haven't connect the each ribs with elastic yet.
Need to resin first.

To add the challenge, I made the small black parts at the back sides decreased.
I will make the front grey part raised too.

I can't attach it to the dummy, oh well, you get the idea.

I took the next challenge by making the cod using Syrus54. Took me around two hours to make it, longer than what I expected.
The detail and foam parts has not been added.
It was too small, but I will modify it to make it larger so I don't need to make a new one.

Thank you Syrus for the great file!

I can't help it, I must try it on, so I did.
Sorry for crappy picture, have no time to grab my tripod.

Jetpack is printed and ready for cut.

took a lot of time in building the jetpack. it claimed my blood too (had a pretty serious cut).
I thinkt took total of 8 hours (combined), and it has not even finished.
two exhaust port, foam detail, had not been added.

Shin is printed and ready for cutting.

Gemini is not sad anymore (head is now up).
The jetpack is done, all it need is the foam detailing.
