I just got back from the Italian Premiere.
They showed the movie in English with italian subtitles. Kinda sucked, but I'm pretty lucky to understand english pretty good.

The film is fast, and goes on really smoothly. Reminded me of A New Hope events-succession wise.

Characters are just great. They evolved really well and the new chars are just as good as the old ones. Cheadle was an exvcellent replacement for Howard. I really liked him better! Paltrow and Johansson (or whatever her last name is :p) are awesome too.

Mikey Rourke is a really well done villain and Sam Rockwell is just awesome.
Anyways, this movie will make you laugh, smile, think (it's a little more profound than the first one) and say: WOW in certain scenes.

So, fear not Iron Man fans! Favreau will not let you down! ;)

Incidentally, I have a 7 and an 8 year old. They've seen Transformers, Avatar, ROTS, Lord of the Rings. This one won't be a problem, I assume?

You assume just right!
No problem at all!

ROTS is the worst of all with Anakin all burnt up...
They'll get a kick out of it and I'm sure they'll come out frmo the theatre going like: I'm Iron Man...ok...and I'm War Machine....dadadadadadadadadada.ratarartatatararatra ehhehehe, just make sure they don't try to fly off the window once you guys get back home :D

It was used frequently in the comic, so it wouldn't have surprised me a bit. I thought we'd see it in the first one. But I agree that sometimes trailers have a hard time walking the line between showing enough to entice and too much to spoil.

Thanks for the input Gemini Khan. I think my kids will like this, and now I don't have to find a sitter! Win/win for Cayman...

So, not long back from seeing Iron Man 2. Non Spoiler review:

To me this was Empire Strikes Back to IM's 'A New Hope'.

It gets a bit darker, a few less jokes, and there's a lot of callback to both the first film and foreshadowing for the future. This is as much a film about Tony Stark the man as it is Iron Man the character. Don't go into this expecting wall to wall action. I loved it as did my wife who has only a passing knowledge of Iron Man (knows of some of the characters history/etc via me. Saw the first film).

It's far from a perfect film. Some bits jar and there are some annoying gaps. I've no complaints re: the effects. It all clicked for me and at no point did I feel any use of CGI pulled me out.

It goes without saying: Stay until after the credits.

I have a feeling this is going to be THE summer movie this season...but I've been wrong before!
Really looking forward to this one - hoping we see some cameos!
