Inspired Nuka Cola Quantum Display

So I was browsing the site and saw DirtyWizard's thread on his thread for his Quantum display and it inspired me. I wanted to make one a tad bit similar, and a little larger... Well quite a bit larger. I've run into an issue I am hoping you guys can help me with. I was wondering how to go about making a switch and wiring this thing up. Any ideas would be great, because I want to start sealing this thing very, VERY soon.

Started carving the blocks to the approximate shape. Seems I might have to build it back up a bit though

This is about how I want the bottle. I need to somehow cover the base a bit, while putting the LEDs in there. I was thinking about one of those LED click lights with the magnet on it since it covers the whole base, and has a "switch", but the problem would be accessing the batteries to change them.

Again, any suggestions or comments would be great guys :confused

Figured in the mean time, I would keep working on the opposite end of the build. Figured I'd take a look on how it would be with the sand on it

The hot spot will be covered by either some foam, or possibly another part of the prop. All depends on how the lighting situation works out for me :darnkids

So here is where I'm calling it a night. I burned my finger pretty nicely with the hot glue gun, so I know its quittin time :dodgy:

Will post more pics tomorrow with the progress I make. Hoping to be finished with this sometime this week, at least thats what I am hoping for.

Anyone have any comments, suggestions, or tips, please feel free to post/inbox me. Good night everyone

Made some progress regarding my lighting issue, along with some other things. Decided on changing some parts up a bit so I had to cut some areas more, add to others. Hope you guys enjoy, its taking a bit longer than anticipated, but thats how it goes right? I had an Altoids tin laying around that I was eventually going to convert to either Mentats or Fixer. Might as well make use of it now right?

Very cool! I was going to suggest hollowing out a spot for the batteries & switch on the bottom of the base but the tin works much better. :thumbsup

Thanks guys! Currently its at about 50% being finished. I am waiting on my pieces to come in, STILL... I'm currently debating on how to "fortify" this thing. Seeing as its floral foam, its not the strongest, most durable thing out there. Was thinking of making a plexi case so to speak for it. Then going to cover the plexi with a collage so to speak of the New Vegas casino posters and factory signs.

I had the Altoids tin laying around to make a Mentats or Fixer anyway. Someone suggested make a piece that I could move if I needed access to the batteries and this came to mind right away. As soon as I can get to a printer (I dont own one, which has LIMITED my pep learning skills), I will print out one of the two and apply it to the tin and weather it up a bit.

Just thought I would post an update on the hand and base on this. Neither finished, just the base has to set and dry, as does the hand. So here are the "progress" pics. Enjoy
Blisters added to bottom of hand and fingers

The hand looks amazing, but for added realism you should not have cleanly cut nails and add a little dirt under the nails as well.

I need to get some brown paint first. Haven't had time to make ot to the crafts store. But what's wrong with a wastelander having nice nails?? LOL jk, I just haven't decided how cracked I want to make them just yet. Hopefully today I can make it over there and get some more paints
