Inside the Ark of the Covenant?

So I know there is sand and the devastating light of God encased in the movie version, but what does the inside of the collectable versions look like? Are they just gold? I would think that there would be some sort of velvet/fabric lining in a real world version. I 3D printed one, and I am wondering how to finish the inside...not sure if I want to add sand, small tablet models or the brightest battery powered LEDs I can find. Not screen accurate, but I am very pleased with the result from a mid priced 3D printer

The Hasbro 1/6 version has sculpted/molded "sand" on the bottom. I think the Sideshow version was empty inside.

Isn't the Ark in a very, very big warehouse, somewhere? ;)

Area 51 correct ? :)
I doubt at the time of Moses there was some velvet/fabric lining inside the Ark....if you want to make a replica of the real deal ;)

So, as to an ARK. There are arks found in Egyptian tombs, I believe the idea of an ark would have come from Moses who would have been raised in Egypt.

;)

The Ark is my dream prop. If I had a full size id put a fog machine and really bright lights for halloween.

Interesting thought on the egyptian influence there.

One rumor has it the Ark was nothing more than a great big capacitor, the walls were wood lined inside and out with gold and was most likely empty. The cherubim (angels) on top were placed on a solid gold seat and were i truth the positive pole of the circuit. As they marched the thing around the desert it steadily built a charge, until someone was dumb enough to touch it... Then they got to point and say the now crispied heathen had just been struck down by the power of God...

Anyways, in that case there would be nothing inside.... I've always wanted to see someone try and recreate the ark just to see how powerful of a charge it could hold... all that gold...

Yep. Looking at the carvings on the tombs and the arks left in the tombs, it looks like direct lineage.

The -book- is a Dutch Bible. Not sure how many might have that exact picture of the ark as shown in Raiders.

The real one has the two tablets with the Ten Commandments in it. It is said to reside in Ethiopia. Do we have any Ethiopian board members?

I watched that documentary on the ark where they said it was in a building in Ethiopia. The one priest guy that is allowed to actually view the tablet inside the ark said that the words actually MOVE on the stone tablet. Cool idea (real or imagined) that would indicate that the tablets are Supernatural.

If I saw words move on a stone tablet Id have to go and lie down for a little while. That would freak me out. Even after seeing Raiders so many times its still unnerves me at the end when all the spirits come out of the Ark and all the face melting starts! Lol

:D Yep. We need somebody to raid the temple and take pictures of what's actually THERE.

There's a language barrier with the Priest Guy. He thinks "Ark of the Covenant" means "Tablet of the Covenant".

He was totally focused on what is IN the box, and ignored that what we call the ARK. That makes me think this
is not the actual ark. From all the descriptions, the Ark part would not be something you could just ignore.

oh, so maybe I should fill it with batteries and print in conductive filament next time!

I do like the dry ice, liquid nitrogen idea. Maybe my next build should be a melted face Nazi figure

My wife is tired of me yelling "Don't Look Marion" every time I worked on it and moved the lid

Yep. On Mythbusters, they made one that was electrified and actually tricked Adam into touching it. He swore on camera.
