Indiana Jones - 'Real World' Props

By popular request, here is a thread where we can document the details of some "real world" props from the Indiana Jones film franchise. To be more specific, these items should be available, generally, in the "real world" - in other words, not created specifically as a prop for the production of the movies.

Henry Sr.'s Fountain Pens (Last Crusade)

Summit S100 Cadet (Vintage) - Green & Silver
Conway Stewart Series 58 Lever Fill (Vintage) - Black & Gold
Conway Stewart Series 58 Indiana Jones Replica (Modern) - Black & Gold

The Conway Stewart pen appears in the tank scene when Henry Sr. uses it to blind his attacker in the tank. (Fun fact - lever fill pens really do squirt ink like that!)

Both pens can be seen in the Lucasfilm Archive Book, but I'm not aware of any scenes in the movie that feature the Summit pen.

Three-Bulb Hourglass - Indy's Home Desk (Last Crusade)

Wilson & Co. Ltd Barnsley - 18th or 19th Century (after 1744)

You don't see too many three-bulb hourglasses which is what made this piece really stand out. I finally found one at an antique shop in The Netherlands that was willing to ship to the US.

Desk Fan - Indy's Marshall College Office Desk (Last Crusade)

Vintage General Electric (GE) 12" Brass Blade Fan 3-Speed

Small Brass Plaque on Base indicates - Type: A0U, Form: AD1(or I) - I got mine in 220V so it won't operate in the US (for safety reasons, these things are dangerous since the blades are exposed!)

Indy's Flashlight in Crystal Skull is a modern retro flashlight still available on Amazon as be the United Pacific Vintage Chrome Flashlights C5013
It's been painted by the prop department with the black body and stripes

Interestingly, this flashlight is clearly using the tooling of the Chinese Tiger Head brand flashlight which has been in production for decades and might have actually been around in 1957.

The Raiders' pocket knife is made in Solingen, Germany, the traditional centre of the country's edged tool industry.

The Hubertus 12.300.HH.00 has been identified as the most likely model and is the most well made still readily available. Made of stainless steel, nickel, brass and stag scales (horn), it will last a lifetime or two. We do not see the opposite side of the blade onscreen. It would have had the Hubertus name (in smaller font that today's version) inscribed. There are other close enough alternatives like the Linder 312111 that are preferable as they are less expensive.

The map room tape measure used onscreen but only partially in view, is most likely a pre-WWII German surveyor's model although we have no idea of its length, nor do we know if Indy brought it to the map room. Perhaps it was left by Belloq's team. Here is a period German measure for reference:

During the Nepal segment of Raiders, a 1930 London model Sparklets soda syphon is prominently displayed on the Raven Bar. Sometimes confused with a seltzer bottle (a US derivative), these are readily available on the bay, but it is rare to find a working model as the rubber seals have almost certainly dried up and perished. Since the filming was completed in London, it is assumed a London model was easily available. There is also a nearly identical 1930 New York model available throughout North America.

You can find restored and working syphon bottles here and a video restoration and demonstration here.

Cake Tin in the Raven Bar, although the color is off here. The one in the film was a reddish hue seen in the backround in the pic above.

Some of the tan bottles behind the bar are Biscombe Ginger Beer bottles. They aren't too common and I haven't been able to find the specific bottles but close enoughs are everywhere at all price ranges.

I use to use one every day. I had an old school boss that only used this. His was green though. It was 100 feet. Not sure if they made them shorter. It's the same exact tape with the exception of color.
