Indiana Jones - Golden Fertility Idol - New Sculpt

On the stationary idol on pedestal with “real” eyes filmed from the front, the eyes were remotely controlled to move, and can be seen briefly glancing to the viewer’s left in the slow zoom-in wide shot. Rear shots of pedestal idol were not the remote idol because the seam on the rear access hatch along the hair line would be apparent.

Great initiative. In case you don't already have these images...

Here is a quick new compare for the 4th of July.

I wanted to check the angles and try to get an image close to the screen capture HERO. It is very tricky to get the exact perspective, camera distortion and lighting especially since the sculpt is not plated and does not have the same reflections.

I did not try to match the lighting very much here. I didn't want to fuss too much, just a quick iphone photo in the approximate position. A quick test to help my refinement of the sculpt.

I am posting both the propstore pose and the film pedestal HERO pose to compare the difference in the "look" of the idol based solely on the camera angle, camera lens distortion and lighting.

Note the difference in the "expression"
Also note that the 2 images are of the same sculpt and are green like the PropStore pose image. For the HERO pose I used bad fluorescent light and it looks gray!

Note how the gold HERO pose makes the mouth frown more. Zero change to the sculpt mouth and face.

Happy 4th of July everyone!

I'm loving how this idol is coming along. It's a prop that's long overdue the attention it deserves to get it right.

Andy

Another update.

Zeroing in on the details. I think I have the overall sculpt in good shape now. The expressions are accurate and the details are all there.

Next I will zoom in to finalize the surface quality and fine details. I roughed in the minute facial surface details that make the PropStore Idol visual interest. These very subtle but important details that will reflect the same highlights as the HERO in when plated or glossed.

The included details are all seen on screen used idols in film stills or BTS images.

The lighting and coloring is not correct so it will look slightly different from the HERO images.

I am posting the most iconic poses and views we have available...roughly estimated.

Then... what to do with it? ; )

Let me know thoughts.

Thanks! Zooming in on the baby details and finalizing the surfaces.

Should be finished shortly. Then need to decide what to do with it.

If there was interest I could offer it a few different ways.

Will post more updates shortly.

a little more refinement on the baby...

A little more to go but getting there... Been comparing all the available images and add all the details.

Different lighting and different "gloss" make a lot of difference in what can be seen on film.

Still need to fine tune and smooth it up a bit. The features and cuts are still a bit harsh and strong but I need it that way so I can judge the alignment first.

Let me know what you think!

There was once a short video on the following website with a female presenter, 'Blair Butler' with the Prop Store Idol at Comic-Con in 2009 but I can no longer find it.

I'd be interested if anyone saved it, and still has it?

Thanks,

Andy

Wait, is this an actual sculpture or a 3D render? Either way, my hat is off to you as you are a master at your craft. If this is, in fact, a physical sculpture I bend the knee and request you put me on any forthcoming availability list.
