Indiana Jones 5

Too Much Garlic...I like the way you think, Dude.

For me the best part about "Crystal Skull" was the stuff between Indy and Mutt at the restaurant and then at his house as he was using his knowledge and abilities of research to explain the Nazca lines (sp?) and the historical crystal skulls, we really got to see the intellectual, professor Indy which I never thought we got quite enough of.

Also, I genuinely liked bringing Indy, a man from the 30s, into the rather space-oriented, Cold War neighborhood setting of the 1950s, he looked so incredibly out of place, as if Time was marching forth while he remained the same. Wonderful stuff that. Everything after that sucked. LOL

Oh, and they need to bring back Lawrence Kasdan for cryin' out loud.

Timothy Olyphant might make a good younger Indy-- Although I think he may be pushing 45 at this point... maybe they missed that boat... Might have to go with a total noob

Yeah... and do something bold. KILL OFF THE MUTT. Not just because Shia whatshisname bøf something is annoying as hell... but... oh hell... that's the only reason. Kill the kid and give room for the daughter. Make it a tough emotional moment where it feels all is lost for Indy and family... and then BAM... away goes Shia for the rest of the movie. It serves two purposes. Getting rid of Shia... YAY... + adding danger and loss to Indy's character for the rest of the movie, gives him something to fight for (protect the rest of the family) and something to avenge (he's the son he never knew he had until like 2 minutes ago who tries to steal his hat.)

WIN-WIN in my view.

Maybe Josh Dallas for a young Indy? I think he already has the whip scar on his chin (wrong side though).

Geez.....just accept it.

None of you are going to get what you want out of this.

It's impossible. You have too much hate in YOU.

Let it go Indy.

HOnestly...I've seen too many movies being ruined by follow-up movies...better to finish with a good taste in your mouth and knowing you have an awesome set of movies (classical, unmatched movies, of course!)

I would at least ask for a reading from Matt Davis:

Huh...Davis certainly looks the part (perhaps a bit too pretty-boy, but not bad), but then so do a number of massess of clay and silicone over in the other forums. Does he have any more range than those do?

Kasdan has declined to take on writing assignments (at least from LFL), insisting that he's a director now, not a writer. Refused on the SW prequels, and refused on Indy4. Agreed it would be nice to see (although Kasdan apparently "advised" on Marion's dialogue in KotCS, so...maybe not so much).

As far as Indy 5, I think the next story should have Indy racing against his own country for control of a doomsday artifact. Amid the paranoia and nuclear fear of the 50s-60s there's a great story to be told where even the "good guys" maybe shouldn't have control over the ultimate power. Indy needs to keep anyone from gaining possession of the thing, and put it beyond reach. Some great storylelling opportunities as the "baddies" believe that they're acting in the best interests of the world as opposed to the usual cartoony supervillain "I vill create a race of atomic SUPERMEN!" shenanigans.

There's already a perfect artifact in the Indy universe for this, which even got briefly re-introduced in the last film. I can see it being a very cool full-circle thing to end the Indy movies if that artifact ends up back in the desert, maybe hidden in, oh, I don't know, Ethiopia.

'Course none of that will happen, but it would be nice to know what genre the three of them have agreed to this time around. Maybe Speilberg's haunted castle idea makes a return?

Hmmm He definitely looks like he has potential-- I've never seen him act though... plus I need to see him with plenty of dirt on him before I can tell how he looks as Indy, lol

I could buy him as a young Indy from the photos. Haven't seen him in anything though, so don't know if he can act indy. Still prefer Harrison Ford for any future movie.

The idea of bringing the Ark back into play could actually be a good thing. Hell... the government store these things for a reason, right... so maybe someone in the government feels it's time to actually start using some of the stuff they've collected in order to stop whatever menace they perceive as a threat. Though, with such power... even when they destroy the enemy, there'd be no telling those same people won't turn the device towards their own country men in order to control and subjugate them into their world view, like all dictatorships start.

+ it brings the archeological angle as well and a reason to bring Indy into the action. Heck... maybe they consult him or force him into helping them figuring out how it works.

SeeÉ SeeÉ Cool, huhÉ Wrap it all up where we started, and the moral drama takes some of the story heavy lifting off increasingly hard to believe athletic stunts by a 70 year old (yes, Harrison is in great shape, yes I only hope I look so good at his age but it`s growing harder to buy into ).

Okay, the more I look at Davis I`m seeing more `smarm` and less `wry`. There`s definetly something Harrison circa 1980 there, but he`s like...Indy`s scuzzier deadbeat cousin or something. Regardless, specious argument - in the case of this franchise Harrison IS Indy, end of line. No reboots, resets, or recasts need apply.
